how many Defensive lineman played in the game?

it seemed like Lawrence and fehoko never came out. I didn't have my roster to read numbers, but besides them I only remember seeing logan. we were freely substituting linebackers and secondary, but not so much on the line.

Logan, Farrell but no Shelvin

5 according to Moscona.
ETA: Alexander and Farrell were the only two reserves.

I reckon we'll see more of the other fellas this weekend.

Hope so

He also said that Lawrence played every snap.

I also noticed Rashard limping around. I would hold him out of the game or play him sparingly against SLU as we’ll need him 100% for AU.
Would love to see Cotton, Livingston & Rosenthal get some quality PT in second half this week.
ETA - Big Ed needs more PT. He was blowing Miami OL onto the backfield repeatedly in limited action. That would allow Fehoko to play more DE & give Lawrence a break here & there (rotate Logan, Lawrence & Fehoko b/n the 2 DE spots more)

This was a concern last year. Looks like we are in the same boat depth wise.

I’m not trying to be “that guy” but Lawrence missed 2 games last year and the results were ugly.
If he can play, he should at least be in the rotation.

This is impossible.
I’ve been assured LSU could never hope to compete against the likes of MSU or Troy with eight lineman at least and we would dress out 11 this year

I knew that was coming. I would say we just need to move on, but unfortunately it's very true. Also, LaCouture playing every snap was another one and Lawrence apparently played every snap in this one.
A look at the bright side says that the team learned from that experience, so it wasn't for no reason. Great job by the coaching staff for having these guys ready to play vs a quality opponent.

Why all of this talk about our new found depth this year if they're not going to use them?

No question. I’ll give credit where it’s due. Staff did a great job.
I’m just still a little salty from a thread I got ganged up on when I said DL depth might not actually be any better this year but that a healthy and improved Rashard, Fehoko and Logan and our LB strength would be the major boost to the front seven.
And in that thread I never even mentioned O. I said Canada and Aranda deserved the blame for not having a better game plan which cost us the game, they are the ones that make the game plan obviously, not some perceived lack of depth on the DL as we were already double digits when players got hurt and ejected in the second half.
The bottom line is in a 3-4 you’re never going to see more than 6 DL or so anyway, and Aranda even loves his 2 man front.
These freshmen may be the diamonds in the rough we all assume they are, but four of them are NTs anyway and none of them will do much this year.
I’ve said repeatedly losing Lac, Gilmore, and Herron is bigger than gaining those freshmen for THIS YEAR. We do gain Fehoko which is great but I still think it’s a net loss depth wise, although our starters and main rotation looks stronger as long as we stay healthy.
But an injury to Rashard or Fehoko would be just as bad as it was last year.

Is it possible Shelvin was an unannounced suspension?
Posted on 9/5/18 at 10:23 am to TNTigerman
This defense is compared to the 2011 D often on here. Yes that D had four down lineman, but had twelve guys play every game and were pretty much three deep. DL's on good teams have a heavy rotation because of the physical demands of the position. It is a bit scary that only five played.

You have to take into consideration game flow.
They started 0-7 on 3rd downs. Our defense was never on the field much in the 1st half, or at any point in the game.
Overall, this was the time each of their drives took

people want to compare this to Miss St & Troy last year
Miss St time of possession 35min vs our 24min
Troy 34 vs our 25min
on Saturday, LSU 31 min to Miami 28 min

SELU.
If he is nicked up, there is no point in risking it before AU.

Suspect and hope we will see a lot of Ferrell Saturday. I don't see the point in playing Lawrence at all. We will see how deep in the doghouse Shelvin is. Otherwise, I'd play him 30 snaps Saturday and last thing I want to see is Alexander limping around. Might as well use Cotton and Rosenthal a lot Saturday also. Burn 1 of their 4 games with significant playing time.

On top of that, they were in pass-pass mode in the 2nd half. Our personnel didn't call for multiple substitutions along the line.
Miss St last year held the ball for 34min and ran the ball 48x. Lol. But yea, let's compare it to that.

Damn I hate to hear this. I wonder if it’s the same ankle as last year. Sometimes those things are hard to shake.
