Even 64 teams weren’t enough for them in basketball.

There are 138 teams in FBS football. There were 39 teams with winning regular-season records in 2025

In D1 Basketball, there are 365 teams; 68 of 365 is 18.6%

In D1 baseball, there are 304 teams; 64 of 304 is 21.1%

24 of 138 is 17.4%

If they expand again, it will be to 32. 32 of 138 would be 23.2%

24 is more than enough; only 69 teams ended up with winning regular-season records. 39 in the P4 conferences.

Didn't Stankey just vote for the death of conference play. Who wants to play a finals type opponent for no reason? Your in the sec championship your in the 24. Then you need to play 5 playoff games in a row (9-24). Its nuts sorry. Also you have first round pics on your team. You were so good you got your team noticed and the Pro's tell you your a lock for the first round. Many of the players don't want to play in bowl games why the hell does the LSU QB who is slated to go in the top five want to play five more grueling playoff games?
Four letters are calling the shots and its not the NCAA but ESPN.

Literally every other division of college football has done this for years.

How many players opted out of the playoffs last year? Again, yall are just making stuff up, and then deciding to cry about your made up nonsense.

Not crying tardo. Stating possible outcomes. The sec is not and never has been The Fighting Artichokes or any other division of football. Those are crap teams you are trying to compare. They don't play against Booger, Ray Lewis, Ronnie Lott and the likes.

Well thats the point slick. Play 5 more playoff games and risk millions. Or make it to the draft without further injury. You will see but it will be to late for your tears then.

Look around. Pretty much the entire fanbase of the entire sport regards the 24 team playoff as the deathknell of what made the sport unique and exciting.

Rivalry games no longer matter.

Conference championships not only no longer matter, they basically no longer exist.

Bowl season is destroyed.

Upset weekends aren’t really relevant.

The same teams will be in the top 24, year after year. Tell me again about the revelence of the regular season. Might as well stop buying season tickets and save your budget for the postseason.

You hear that? This thing that you endorse might have basically killed Death Valley. That’s an extreme possibility I don’t think will happen but that it’s even in the cards is batshit insane.

And you are a fool to celebrate it and call it an improvement. If you like watching the nfl, just do so. Don’t try to change everything into it.

Please forgive me for having my own opinion, and not just subscribing to the rant group think. I hope that's ok with you.

I disagree with this completely, but believe whatever you wish.

They either exist or they don't. There is no such thing as "basically" no longer existing. And I will gladly trade playoff matches for conference championship games.

Oh you mean the bowl season that gets complained about yearly on here, for them having bowl games that nobody wants to watch? That's not group think you get in on?

That is complete BS. LSU's game against Auburn means every bit as much under a 24 team playoff as it does for this current system.

Do what you wish. I bet LSU still sales out for big games....same as always.

Spot on he just can't see it. Look at this last weekend. It "shook the college world" it was great. Not anymore. All those teams next year? Meh we still got two loses to give. Whatever. Remember when Bama got in with the 3 loses? Yeah how many loses is that now? 4? 5?

Name one team this weekend took out of the playoffs.

Would LSU vs Auburn be less relevant for the loser this weekend?

How many loses gets in with 24 teams?
Alabama had 3 in a 8 team playoff.
So Alabama has 4-5 loses. They gonna pick 3 loss Colorado over them or a 3 lose Nevada over 4 loss Notre Dame?

Eventually the playoffs will be 64 teams.

Let's just make it 128. Everybody is in. Play 6 games for seeding purposes only. Imagine all the money. November/December madness.

You know they are going to completely beat the dead horse in the quest for money. I’m talking South Park scenes of Spielberg raping Indiana Jones levels of exploitation. Even 64 teams wasn’t enough for them in basketball.

3 years? 5?

Probably next week at this rate.

They can only really make it work because they do 2 games per weekend.

The schism that results in a super league is inevitable. We’ll see how close it ends up vs current P4 teams but we’re ending up with a new top division in the 60s

And if the decision is left up to the programs in a vote, it’ll be 32

FCS has used this formula for years and it works for them. I think it’d be atrocious in big boy football. You’d have first round games that would be repeats of early September rent a wins.

And add big time teams losing star players to Tulsa.
Great fun there.
