, Martell is like Manziel light in the open field. Damn good wheels
If you saw his HS games, he's got above average arm and throws extremely well on the run. Fits Meyers scheme better than Burrow. Burrow was wise to transfer. One schools excess is another schools savior.

Having an Urban Meyer coached transfer, who got beat out, might be a much better option than any QB on the LSU roster.
It worked out pretty damn well for Auburn in 2010.

Cam left because of being a thief, not because of lack of talent

Haskins is probably going to be pretty damn good. Probably the best QB from his class
I know we wanted him bad, more than Patterson and franks.

quote:where exactly did you get this “film”? fricking google people go and look at clips and shite but not game film. Most people that spout shite like this haven’t a clue what film is and how it is usednin coaching and evaluating talent. Just dumb.
From film, my take is that Burrow is a better armed Matt Mauck. I'll take it.
Don’t make shitty comments like this when you don’t have a clue about this game.

Actually, he left because he was facing expulsion for academic dishonesty.....but the point is he transferred. He was also beat out by Tebow in 2007 - his Heisman winning season. As talented as Cam Newton was, there was no way in hell he was ever going to unseat a Gator legacy from Jacksonville with a Heisman on his mantle. If Newton hadn't left for the reason he did, he probably would have transferred for a chance to play.

Enjoying the spoils of Urban Meyer's leftovers will be so delicious.
Well if you go by spring game performance as some do:
Haskins: 9/19 (47.3%) 120 yds 2 TDs
Martell: 5/16 (31.3%) 28yds 0 TD/1 INT
Burrow: 15/22 (68.2%) 238yds 2 TDs
Posted on 5/19/18 at 7:10 pm to BayouCowboy
Or you could go by game performance.
Haskins: 40/57 (70.2%) 595 yards 4 td/1 int
Burrow: 29/39 (74.2%) 287 yards 2 td/0 int
Haskins came in and won the Michigan game. IMO, that won him the job. A big performance in a big game.
Burrow is great and I wish him the best. High character individual who already got his degree and will do great things at LSU.
Ohio State will do just fine with Haskins. I don't see Martell seeing the field other than special package situations. He's an adequate passer but a gifted runner and is very adept at the read option.

It is a shame your other thread was whacked by the board nazis. It was a legit discussion, the addition of Barrow removes some excuses if the offense is not successful.

We certainly thank OSU for throwing us a bone. If Barrow can come in and have success then it can open up the future for LSU recruiting QB's. If he succeeds it will show recruits that you can come here and succeed and LSU will put a potent offense on the field. I think our lack of success and no commitment to passing has killed us in regards to signing big time Qb's.

Burrow.
And I agree with you. I'll root for you guys (unless you play us of course).
Once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye!

Why are you people down voting this? It is the absolute truth. He left Florida for being a thief and a academic fraud. These facts are not even debatable.

Yeah. Saw him on espn playing for Bishop Gorman. Solid prospect, definitely. We'll see what happens.

Ok. I'm sorry about his misreads when they blitzed from the middle.
He has a hard time picking up the delayed corner blitz. Has trouble when he comes out of a play fake and has to reorient his view to scan the field.
Should hold the ball longer on his RPO's. Doesn't let the defensive end commit or crash in hard enough. Is a little behind on crossing routes.
Should probably audible to "spider Y 2 banana" when faced with a stunt and blind sided pressure blitz.
"Film" is a general term. My opinion is just that. An opinion. One of a guy on a message board. Just basically a passing compliment/assessment.
Why don't you enthrall me with your football acumen there, "tiger88". Explain to me how simple opinion is a fallacy. If not, Go frick yourself with an iron stick. Then again, just go back to watching your own autobiography that you love- "the walking dead".
Old frick wad.

From Wiki on Martell: "As a senior, he was the Gatorade Football Player of the Year after leading the team to a 15–0 record, while passing for 2,362 yards and 41 touchdowns, and rushing for 1,253 yards and 21 touchdowns.[1][2] For his career, he went 45–0 as a starter and finished second in Nevada history with 7,510 passing yards and 113 touchdowns."
Was rated as 5 star by Scout and 2d best qb. So far at OSU hasn't shown himself to be a great passer although he is an exceptional runner. The one impressive thing about him is that the coaches have uniformly complimented his work ethic and how hard he worked on the Scout team to prepare the starters.
It is a tribute to him that during the Spring game he was given equal reps with Haskins and Burrow so formally he was given a chance to win the starting job. (Don't think anyone thought he had a realistic chance but I think the coaches were going out of their way to reward him for his work ethic)

They aren't necessarily any better than Burrow, but they obviously fit Urban's system and college in general better. Burrow has much better shot at making the NFL, but Tate is something when he's running.
Lol, you're kinda wrong here. Haskins is the pro style QB of the group. He's mobile enough to scramble for a few yards, but that's about it. Haskins fits his usual scheme the least out of all of them. Martell is mostly a runner at this point, and Burrow can do both.
Burrow didn't want to risk not winning the job, or he saw the writing on the wall, and left.
Haskins is a future NFL top draft QB, and the people that haven't realized that by now will this year. Burrow also has an NFL future which is why this was such a big get for us.

Watch the film. Haskins is very impressive. Elite of th Elite with arm talent. Burrow still outplayed him in the spring game
