how do you view Les Miles
Stubborn

A total POS who character and ethics wise should never have been LSU’s HC in Football. He was also a pretty bad football coach, particularly on offense and game management.

Just like with Ed O, I was right about Miles.

He and Orgeron are two of the luckiest coaches on the planet.
Both let their lack of character ruin their coaching reputations. IMO

I view les miles as a great coach during his time at LSU. If you would have asked me back then which coach would you want to play for the most I would have chosen him and the LSU program.

Hell some were talking about erecting a statue of him. That would have went over as well as the one of Joe Pa at Penn State. (No way comparing the incidents surrounding the two). Just the removal had it been made. I presume he and Kathy are still married?

I’ve been watching highlights from the 2005-2007 era on YouTube and the level of coaching incompetence and lack of game awareness is difficult to comprehend.
i said this for years. all the pumpers ignored issues because we were winning at a rate they were good with at the time.
i told everybody you just cannot examine games we lose, you need to look at performances in games we win also. All the signs were there from the get go. it finally caught up to him.

as was I. you and I had this convo many times when it was NOT popular about miles. I despised the O hire. We did not hire the best resume. But we supported the team and him and hoped for the best as always.

A clown and as we know now a piece of shite on top of it

A very good coach whose stubbornness led to unnecessary underachieving seasons

More smiles w/o less miles

Pretty much my take as well.

Don't give a flip at this point. Appreciate the NATTY. Looking forward toward hopefully competent coaching, great recruiting, awesome game plans and half-time adjustments and eventually another NATTY within 3 years.

It’s very simple to describe Les
The pros:
Tight run ship inside the football ops building
Very good recruiter
Players played really hard for him
Generally hired very good assistants
The cons:
Disorganized on gameday
Stubborn offensively
Too loyal to veterans
Les let 2008 completely alter his coaching career. I’m convinced if 2008 and Jarrett Lee never happens, Les wins 1-2 more titles at LSU, I 100% believe that. He also navigated the Katrina season and deserves a lot of credit for that.
Les had too much old school in him though. The length and physicality of his practices is well known, the discipline for minor shite is well known. He didn’t evolve with society. And of course we find out later he’s a weirdo creep.
He’ll go down as a well above average coach. He’s Mark Richt with a ring.

The winningest coach in LSU history.
Has a National Title, 2 SEC titles and another appearance.
Had the first undefeated season since 1958, at the end of which he was robbed of the Crystal football by a combination of media bias, coaches poll shenanigans, and voodoo.
That said, by 2014 the game had passed him by and it was time to move on. But he was the most consistent coach in program history including Saban.

I think he was initially a good almost great coach.
But something happens in 2008. I think the J Lee pick 6 fiasco broke his brain and he was never the same after that.
Even after building one of the best teams in LSU history (2011) from the ground up, he still couldn’t get back to the more open attacking offense he had from 2005-2007 when he was the “mad hatter”.
After 1/9/12 he was just completely done.
