How do you handle the DH at this point?

Platooning is obviously the answer but Frey and Pearson are only hitting above Milam when it comes to SEC averages.

I know he hasn’t been the same as last year but as far as pure hitters go, Larson is simply better than those two and he is starting to turn it on.

The only other logical RH bat we have to platoon with him is Tummy Tanks.

This still leaves R/L matchups off the bench for CJJ.

I know he is a fan favorite but Old Pearson is at his best when coming off the bench in a key matchup spot.

This lineup is a couple dudes getting hot, and shoring up the DH spot, away from putting it all together and hitting another gear.

Our best baseball is ahead of us and college baseball is on notice!

I think you keep platooning john pearson/frey against lefties and larson/josh pearson against righties. Ill caveat it with saying that larson might be getting more opportunities if he was healthy, which he doesnt seem to be. Id love for him to win the dh spot at some point against righties.

Pearson
Frey
Pearson
Larson

Whoever Jay thinks needs to be the DH

Nobody has taken the job. Frey did take it but he's given it up so its whoever Jay pencils in now.

Larson has a quad injury and can't really run at full speed right now. I don't think he will be a DH until he can get that healed up enough to be able to run normal. He will continue to PH in certain spots and get to first then get pinch ran for until he is healed up.

I'd like to see John Pearson get more ABs if Frey continues to struggle in the RH DH opportunities. Frey is 4/30 in his last 3 SEC weekends.

Larson barely hobbled to first base on what would have been an easy 2B yesterday in 8th inning. Not sure how he cleared the injury report, but he’s definitely far from 100%.

It is weird to me in the last 2 weekends Jay has pinch hit Beck twice in intense situations but he hasn’t gotten any other type of chance. I would love to see him start a midweek at DH.

I’m aware. Yet out of Larson, Pearson, and Frey he is the only one that showed up in the hit column yesterday.

I, too, would like to see Beck get a little more run. If anything, to see if his clutch at bat this weekend was more than just baseball luck.

Yea good point. I would also like to see more of Beck. Especially with Larson less than 100%.

CJJ said he was seeing the BP from Beck recently and I’m guessing that is what has gotten him some more opportunities.

So, you'd potentially DH a guy that can only go station to station at a light jog? Bold.

No. I’m simply saying that an injured guy on 1 leg is still better than the current starters at DH so it’s probably time for a change at DH.

Especially considering one of the DH guys has never been a great hitter in 3.5 years.

No he isn’t. If he would need to beat out a ground ball, it wouldn’t happen. He can barely get to first base.

I think he is an eventual liability if he doesn’t improve quickly. He might get better. He was better Sunday than Saturday.

50% of Larson's at bats have looked horrific. Swords on balls that damn near hit him. He had the huge home run last week, but he's had some REALLY bad at bats. Plus he's injured.

Beck looked impressive when given the chance. I think he definitely warrants some midweek starts.

I really would like to see John Pearson get more looks. He honestly hasnt had much in the form of bad AB all season long, but obviously been given very few opportunities.

I know hes unlikely to see any meaningful time on the weekend at this point, but some more mid-week looks would be interesting and maybe he plays his way into more weekend AB. He is a bit all or nothing if you look at his stats this year, but that could also be to pressing so hard knowing its limited opportunities for him at the plate.
