How did y’all feel about the Technical on Morrow?

I felt like it really impacted the game and was unreasonable.

Refs made a bunch of ticky tack calls. It was a hard, physical play and they killed the momentum.

Depends what she said. After Kim asked the ref “what did she say” she didn’t seem to argue after. Maybe shut up and play instead of having to talk so much.

You aren’t wrong.

I saw where it did get the Lady Tigers energized and provided a spark. Also, it was a terrible call. I am not fond of all of the "talking" between players. I did not see Aneesa do/say anything to warrant the tech. But it is now a part of the game.
Overall, the officiating was pretty bad.
Unfortunately, poor officiating is now part of the game, as well.

quote:there were especially some calls late in the 4th that were simply not fouls but just physical basketball. I feel like I complain about this every time I watch women's basketball. It just gets called differently and it hurts my brain.

Don’t have a problem with emotion as long as it is not directed to the opposing player or team. Not sure what she said either did Kim. Anyway get pumped all you want just not toward the other team.

Stanford really focused on Morrow and frustrated her all night. She struggled all night.

It looked like she said 'don't f*ck with me' after what was a pretty heartily contested basket. Surprising thing was there wasn't a lot of chatter between the teams, they were helping each other up after going to the floor the whole game and seemed to have high regard for each other. I understand being quick on the T when things are getting chippy but that didn't seem to be an issue last night.

Officiating in women's basketball isreally bad. Fortunately it does seem to go both ways.

Stanford obviously believed that if they could shut Morrow down, they could win. It almost worked. But Aneesah got 15+ rebounds and played hard all night. Stanford cut her point productivity down, but Morrow was still important in that win.

Kim Mulkey brings a lot of eyeballs to WBB. Here was a nationally televised game in front of a packed arena.
These refs are used to working in front of 200 people. Throw them in a situation like last night and it’s ego. They want to be sure and insert themselves in a game and use the replay a lot so they are the center of attention. They want to affect the game instead of just officiate it.
They think people came to see them.

The 2 women officials are from the west coast and appeared, through most of their calls and non-calls, to show favor to the Stanford team, imo. As a former h s official, believe me, it can be done that way, whether consciously or subconsciously.

Very Weak and Questionable call.

She was getting mauled all night with no calls. Replay showed no reason for the tech. The refs were horrible with no consistency and a total bias.
Stanford was pulling on Johnson all night and their center was doing a moving pick at the top of the key constantly without a call.
Two fouls on Williams revealed she had to perfect blocks, all ball not contact.
The icing on the cake was reviewing the play near the end of regulation where the Stanford player checked into our inbounds cover player and dribbled out of bounds. The only reason to review was to try and see if they could give the ball back to them on a ticky tack foul.
They were not calling the same on Stanford for bumping and slapping as they were on LSU. It was total BS and should be investigated.

I saw that too. It also looked like Morrow told Coach Kim that she deserved it, kind of like a nod that she said what they they she said
