How can we continue to allow running backs to lower the crowns of their helmets

If we are going to also call the most ticky tacky tackles be ruled “targeting”
The on any football game on Saturday. Watch the running backs immediately lower their heads when trying to break a tackle… they make direct contact with the head or neck area with blatant force…. But we continue to see defenders tossed across the landscape for making tackles.

Or why isn’t targeting call on most tush push type sneaks? Crown collisions abound.

A defender trying to make a tackle is not a defenseless player.

A running back lowering his helmet into a defensive player is not a defenseless player. Running backs use the crown of their helmet as a weapon. The targeting rule for RB needs to be changed. That is just a fact. I see it every weekend.

Because every rule change in the last 30 years seems to be pro-offense. Playing defense is so much harder today than it was even 10 years ago.
Even more reason to love Blake Baker. Doing what he and our defense is doing in this age of football is impressive as hell.

Until an LSU running back gets tossed for lowering his helmet and then y’all will be melting down.

I been saying this ever since the rule got introduced. It’s not consistent
All offensive players can lower their head and “target” a defensive player and it’s not a penalty.
Why?

The ejections are the problem. Horrible

We do seem to have a habit of being the first to have an odd call against us.

The NFL and NCAA have gotten the targeting rule wrong from the beginning in my opinion. The last thing I think they should look at is contact with the player's head. First thing is the form of the tackle. If he isn't leading with the crown, then you can look at if he's intentionally making contact with the player's head. Most of the time, the offensive player is bracing for impact or lowering his head to initiate contact also.
