I love Frank and love the mantra of the Godfather and busting out the leather jacket.

I think it's laughable that Ole Piss fans just think they're going to raid NOLA now.

Should be fun to see him and Jabbar battle in the area.

If Frank was so great of a recruiter and such how come the NIL for Stewart to USC won out?

Because as much as relationships are awesome it's cold hard cash.

I mean look at the DL class we have without DL coach. And Geralds is Franks guy!

Well, fella. I didn’t see any posts focused on Frank’s affect on recruiting, traditional vs NIL, and not scrolling back pages upon pages. Just scroll past and enjoy your Wednesday.

He’s not a good RB coach. He’s “ok”.

Has the recruiting landscape shifted with NIL vs. traditional in-house visits, relationships with the family, etc.?

It has shifted, shifted doesnt mean 180.

New Orleans is a small big town. And the black community (where the players are) is even smaller, and all things considered pretty tight. New Orleans is also an old school relationship town and I think a lot of people dont fully understand this.

So money rules the road but that relationship needs to be there as well. I know its weird because you dont really need that extended family thing to get a kid out Shreveport, usually just the relationship with the recruiter is enough but NO is just a different animal.

So the "Godfather" role is being diminished but in some places its still part of the equation.

I like Frank. I would’ve preferred he stay. But I’m trusting Lane on this one.

I don’t like the constant tearing down of Frank that LSU fans are doing but that’s how these things go. LSU fans did the same thing with Moffitt where we tried to tear him down in his way out. I can see Frank winning some battles as well, but this doesn’t break LSU. LSU will still own Louisiana.

Oh I see. There’s a recruiting board on Tigerdroppings where people discuss recruiting.

If you can’t find it, try the Help Board.

I get that our fanbase is currently in the mode of Everything Lane Does Is Awesome. What I don't get about how Kiffin has handled Frank is how it squares with Kiffin's reasons for choosing LSU over Florida, Ole Miss, and others.

Saban made the case publicly for LSU that he made to Kiffin: no material competition for copious Louisiana NFL-caliber talent when LSU is right. Mix Louisiana talent with a few out-of-staters, plus a few portal adds, plus Kiffin schematic magic, leads to championships.

Frank Wilson is obviously not the only living human capable of reeling in the best of Louisiana. But who is better? Who on Ole Miss' staff can recruit Louisiana better than Frank? Who currently on this staff? Every single one of them may be better on-the-field coaches. Did Lane Kiffin come to LSU to out scheme everyone with lesser talent? Isn't that what he did at Ole Miss outside of 2024, when their roster was loaded and they lost three games?

We don’t need a used car salesman. All we need is someone who ho can carry a briefcase full of money.

Someone onTD posted a great breakdown of LSU in state recruits before and after Frank was here. Not that much difference when it came to the top end of the list . I think it will be even less with NIL factored in now. Having a relationship with the coaches and players is important but a lot of these kids still grow up wanting to be a Tiger and if you add competing for championships with $$ then I think his loss is diminished in todays game.

Its going to be very hard to do much better than the ZERO RBs he signed this year, during a year we need RBs.

I don’t think losing Frank is a huge loss. Like someone else said, his influence will only go as far as Ole Miss’s wallet lets him.

The Rant has decided that the once indispensable and beloved Frank Wilson is now not worthy of either

Getting great recruits is cool - Having great players on the field is cooler - Like Frank, but we will be fine without him!
