Love it as much as anyone here. But the reality is there's only one winner at the end of every year. And those one or 2 or 3 pesky frickers that barely beat you talk shite all year
It's fun though!

I feel the same way. Recruiting back in the late 90's - early 2000's was so much better. Rivals, espnu, and other services weren't updating you 24/7 and twitter and Facebook have made it insufferable. Not to mention, tailgating when you're younger is just better. Remember when Gameday would pump people up? Now it seems to just alienate people. I don't like modern "corporate" college football to be honest with you. And all of these neutral site games really take the wind out of the sails for me.

It is to me how the World Cup is to many Hispanics. I get pumped, scream at refs calls, and brings out my competitive side.

I'm 22. Been going to games since I was 6 years old and watching at least that long. There were times when I was younger that it seemed like life or death. Funny how things change.
I love to watch still and it is the highlight of every weekend during the fall. I yell ruthlessly at every game and watch intently when I'm not there. The outcome just doesn't effect me as much as it did in the past. Takes about 20 minutes to get over a loss. Priorities changing and being older than every player except 5th year seniors has a lot to do with it. Still have goosebumps just thinking about a Saturday in Death Valley

Let's be honest, life is better during football season. I read every article/watch every highligt that I can after a win, am bummed for a few days after loss. I love it, but a wife, a baby, and time have put things into perspective. It's entertainment, football games and Game of Thrones are my two favorite shows. Football is better though because you get a party before every game.

After 55 (+or-) years following the Tigers,

Usually the 72 hour rule applies to me. I'm an arse and don't want to talk to anyone for 3 days. After they I'm usually better. My life usually revolves around LSU and most people that know me consider me a freak. I love LSU both academically and athletically! Was highly involved as a student in SGA and a professional fraternity. I'm still involved in the Houston Alumni chapter. Next to Christ and family work, LSU cones in right behind

I'm invested every Fall Saturday. That's about it.

Much bigger than I wish it was and the irrationality of it confuses me. I cared less when I was actually attending LSU, but now that I spend all offseason following it and it differentiates me from those around me, losses affect my mood. I almost don't enjoy watching games because I want them to win so badly. And I didn't even really like my time at LSU.

I've learned that I as I get older, I'm much more laid back when it comes to this.
I enjoy the atmosphere and the wins. If we lose, I've learned to invoke the 24 hour rule. It's recreation, and like any other form of recreation, it's supposed to be fun. If it's not fun, I need to be doing something else.

after losing the national championship a few years back, I don't get nearly as emotionally invested anymore...I still go to every game and enjoy it all, but I am pretty much over it by sunday afternoon regardless of the outcome....
I haven't missed a home or away game in 9 years, and will make all 13-15 games this year but I feel this way. I drove back to BR after the 2011 NC game with everyone else asleep in my truck. Realized I loved LSU Football and the friends I've met because of games/tailgates, but reality is it doesn't make or break my life.
I enjoy the weekends and the game experiences much more now.

Totally agree... It doesn't dominate my state of mind like it use to. Although the NCG in 2012 was up there with the AU loss in 1994.
I get older and appreciate it for what it is.
1-Temporary-
2-A game played by 18-22 year old kids
3-Entertainment
Love my Tigers but a win or a loss won't make or wreck my weekend anymore. (Except Bama/AU/Fl) Those are more important.

I'm with everyone saying they chilled out with it after 1/9. I love football season, and college football is my favorite sport, but I try not to get as emotionally invested anymore. Even though that backfires every once in awhile like when your o-line gets your QB murdered in BDS and you're so drunk and pissed you throw the remote at the ground so hard it bounces up, ricochets of the wall and hits your (now ex)girlfriend on the other side of the room.

LSU Football- It is something I look forward to reading about every day. It is my morning coffee, breakfast, newspaper, etc... all at once, however it happens in my afternoon in Abu Dhabi or evening if I am in Thailand/Indonesia.
I used to be so pumped after going to the site damn near every day because I miss them when flying on long trips, watching recruiting, spring practice, pre-season hype, hoping no arrests, then the final month where fall camp and first game practice week starts.
Then, the season is here and I watch these games between 9,000- 12,000 miles from Louisiana but yelling loud enough to where I think you guys at Tiger Stadium can hear me. I have a "Housegate" Party and a few friends come over, we cook gumbo, jambalaya, crawfish etouffee, etc...
I used to be very disappointed and heart broken after the pent up year in waiting and the agony of watching a close game, then suddenly we lose...That is tough, but since the Tenn game, Ole Miss Game (Clock issues), no first downs in the SEC Championship game 2011 vs. Georgia, then Jan 9, I decided that all of this is not in my nor all of the fans' power. If bonehead calls are made or bonehed coaching decisions are made I cannot control that, therefore why let it bother me.
I am over the games by the next day, then start looking at next week's opponent

LSU football is a big part of my life. Not so much going batshit crazy if LSU wins or loses but because of the traditions and bonds that I have formed with my children, family and friend regarding LSU football that includes coming from Cali to Death Valley with them for at least one game every year.
3 weeks ago my older daughter got married. She requested that she and I wear our LSU jerseys during the wedding rehearsal to signify the bond that she and I have (which LSU is part of). During the reception the DJ started to play "Calling Baton Rouge" and a buddy in a Mike the Tiger mascot outfit appeared out of nowhere and presented my daughter and my son-in-law (an LSU convert) with a gift. Unbeknownst to me, her biological uncles (my brothers) and her cop uncles (my old partners) had set it up.
