LSU football really gets me excited about life as a whole! I haven't been to Death Valley since we beat Auburn in OT back when Jamarcus was QB. As a student college student right now my biggest goal in life right now is just to make it into LSU law school just so I can be a student in the student section against Bama just for one game. It's on my bucket list, and I really hope it happens!

It's big most of the year for me.
Feb - NSD
April - Spring game
Aug - Fan day and anticipation

But there may be no other venue on this planet like fall Saturdays at LSU. I drink up as much as I can because it only happens 6 or 7 times a year.

The pregame tailgating starting on Fridays,
LSU Union, parade grounds, canopies and tents with delectable aromas emanating from them as far as the eye can see, costumes and face painting, live bands, Mike's Habiitat, TGBFTL parade, TAF pasty in PMAC, Pregame goosebumps...

There's NOTHING like it anywhere. Alabama '12 was the epitome - the anticipation was INSANE.
Hope it's like that this year.......

I'm invested and love following the team every fall. I view my love of LSU and Saints football as my seasonal respite from the stress/monotony of everyday life. In short, it's a cathartic hobby that I look forward to every year.

I’ll admit there was a time when an LSU loss could alter my weekend. However, as I’ve aged I’ve come to accept that it’s just a game and win or lose it’s still just a game. Pull for the Fighting Tigers 100% but move on after a loss much more easily than before.

I'm one of those people, to a degree. I didn't become any less of an LSU fan after the debacle on 1/9/12, but my respect for Miles took a huge hit after that season.

Kind of like that for me too. Very happy when LSU wins pretty. Not so happy when the play is ugly/mediocre/underachieving, or when coaching gets in the way of game. Downright unhappy if the Tigers lose to Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, aTm, UGA, UF, UT, UK, Vandy, USC, MO, MooU - or anybody else outside of the SEC.

So is LSU football big in my life? Yes, during regular season, post-season. Otherwise...

I definitely don't get as bent out of shape over a loss as I once did, but still hate losing! I guess the older you get the more your priorities change. Winning on the other hand, is still as satisfying as it was 15 years ago, and this time of year I still get just as excited reading practice reports and watching big cat drill videos! LSU football just has a way of getting in you, it is definitely my number 1 hobby, and something I truly am passionate about.

You mean the season where we dominated our entire schedule and put together the greatest regular season in college football history? The one where we defeated:
the Rose Bowl champion by 13
the Orange Bowl champion by 26
Florida by 30
Auburn by 35
Bama by 3
#3 Arkansas by 24
Georgia by 32?

Yeah I lost so much respect for Miles that season

Then explain the Clemson lost to me? Didn't that alter your feelings about our coach or was it the players fault?

Clemson loss is pretty simple to explain:
Players not being as motivated as opponent (coaches fault)
Not adjusting on offense and giving the ball to the hot hand (Hill)

Even with these factors it still took a freak chain of events for LSU to lose which included Mett over throwing a wide open Landry on an easy roll out, and Clemson converting on a 4th and 21 on a pass into triple coverage.

Coaches aren't perfect in every game, and bowl game efforts are not always consistent with the regular season.

How much do wins pump you up and losses get you down?

I've learned that I as I get older, I'm much more laid back when it comes to this. I love LSU football but I can't get excited about big cat drills, practice reports, etc.

Don't get me wrong though. I'm pumped for the season.

pretty much where i am. i love lsu sports, don't get me wrong, but i have much more important things in my life now than i did when i was in college and younger. losses used to stick with me for weeks, even months (years haha), but i generally am over most losses the next day. it's great seeing lsu have success, but in the grand scheme of things, my life won't be any different whether they win or lose.

Just scanning the last 2 pages, is there really a super-fan downvoting people that have gotten older and say there are more important things in life than LSU football?

ETA: came back to look for my downvote. was not disappointed

Actually, the way Miles screwed Jarrett Lee over is what made me lose respect for him. The horrendous coaching job he did on 1/9 just cemented it for me. I can support the team and not like the coach.

yep, it's either someone with a really sad life that relies on LSU football for happiness or someone not old enough to understand.
