Do you think that teams stats usually improve when the l veil of competition gets tougher?

I’m simply asking you to provide the logic that makes you think our stats will get better as our opponents get better
who cares about stats? Is that what you want a team with pretty stats? I want to win, it doesn't matter if stats get better/stay the same or get worse as long as the team wins. A lot of the Aranda bashers have loved to bring up Florida last year and Notre Dame. Now its true both of those games the D gave up late tds. Both games could have been put out of reach with a better offense, like we have now. I want the defense to be effective and there is no reason to think it won't be. They had a bad half vs Texas, but it didn't matter because they offense kept up and the 2 goal line stops made a big difference.

If everyone thinks this defense is all of a sudden going to get better as we enter the strength of our schedule they must think our offenseive stats will improve also right?
this is unbelievably faulty logic, its hard to know how to explain it to you if this is the way you see the world. I really can't help you don't understand the transitive property doesn't exist. The overall SOS gets tougher because we aren't playing scrubs, but with the exception of Alabama we won't play anyone as good as Texas, at least offensively and that game was on the road. Have you really never seen a team improve as the season goes along? I’ve seen it happen at LSU. Saban was well known for his teams getting better.
But if the defense does improve it doesn't stand to reason that the offense will as well. Burrow is around 80% on cmp %, that's not sustainable. He will level off somewhat. We also probably won’t score 60 two games in a row either.

Hot take: John Chavis was better in his first 3 years and 4 games at LSU than Arandas been
I don't think that is really a hot take.
Chavis was really, really good while he was here.

Our 2017 defense absolutely got better as the season progressed.

OK. Other than every claim you make being off target it is a very different game today offensively c.f. LSU’s current offense and the firing of Coach Blockhead.

Im not sure why people are mad at the OP
Chavis was very legit his first 3 years
And yes, Chavis first 3 years were better than Arandas first 3 years. The key though, is where do we go from here

Don’t forget Divinity had a key sack late in the game that kept UT to a FG. LSU went down and scored a TD after to put the game away.

Because he’s just trying to bash the DC and is more concerned with stats and rankings

Absolutely

I guess but so what? Why does everything have to be compared exactly. Wasn’t Chavis 3rd year 2011? That was an all timer D. That we didn’t have that Arandas 3rd year means what exactly? They didn’t rank as high?
We gave up how many yards vs Auburn in 2010, over 500 vs WVU in 2011 correct? And I’m sure some 3rd and Chavis.

Making plays don’t matter if the stats suck apparently

After the shiteshow that was the 2011 NC game, I had nightmares about the screen pass in the 2012 game for weeks. I don't give a rats arse about which one is statistically better through 3.4 years. Feel free to count the missed tackles throughout or skip ahead to the 1:05 mark:
2012 Frick Yeldon

I’m not even reading all that BS...stats usually don’t improve when the teams get better and this has nothing to do with transitive property. You go back and show me how often our defense or offense has done better vs the higher ranked defenses and offenses on our schedule and way more times than not our stats will be worse against the Bama s and Florida’s than they will against the cupcakes. You are over thinking this premise to claim otherwise

This take seems rather cold and lumpy to me.

Was Steele really a debacle? I remember him being respectable, if not outstanding. And he seems to have Auburn in a good place now.
Did you watch the games? Every decent offensive coach we faced drug his nuts on that D. He had no clue how to out-scheme anyone.
He did inherit a great D at Auburn, but I have to give him credit. He’s kept their recruiting going and kept them up better than I would have expected based on his performance here.

When chavis had studs and was working hard he was really good. He was an arsehole on his way out the door. Arranda is really good as well, but if we are being honest not earning top dc in the country money like he is getting paid. Lot of football left, have to trust thatbwe get a lot better

So S&P+ goes back to 2005. That was Pelini's first year. This is the average defensive rank for each coordinator since then:
Pelini - 5.6
Mallory/Peveto - 20
Chavis - 7.3
Steele - 34
Aranda - 5
Since Aranda arrived, only two programs have a better average rating:
Alabama - 3
Clemson - 3.7
Aranda - 5
Clemson has the 2nd highest paid coordinator in all of college football and Alabama has Saban.
And yet, here we are, saying Aranda is slipping.

He had to leave out the 2013 defense. It doesn’t fit his false narrative.
frick Chavis. He bailed on LSU. Aranda has been incredible throughout his entire time at LSU and some of you idiots want to turn on him over a few poorly executed plays.
A lot of the problems I’ve seen this season were due to lack of execution and effort—e.g. expecting other guys to make the tackle. This defense just needs a good arse chewing

in other words, you don't understand

stats usually don’t improve
again what's more important to you, its bizarre that you hated Les Miles so much since you seem to prefer his style
quote:
this has nothing to do with transitive property.
You don't even know what the transitive property is do you

Can you explain why Clemson gave up 600 yards and 35 points to South Carolina and only 16 points to Alabama? It wasn't because South Carolina had a better Offense based on stats.
quote:
You go back and show me how often our defense or offense has done better vs the higher ranked defenses and offenses on our schedule and way more times than not our stats will be worse against the Bama s and Florida’s than they will against the cupcakes.
So on top of not understanding the transitive property, you also are confusing macro with micro or more simply that we play games against teams not averages. or stretches This is the easiest stretch of games, but we played 4 different teams and Texas is not a cupcake and what their O ranked in 2018 has no bearing on how good they are in 2019 (i know you don't understand that but its true) . Against the 2 OOC cupcakes we played we gave up 17 points in 2 games. If you trow in Vandy its 41 points in 3 games or 13.67 ppg, how is that bad?

You are over thinking this premise to claim otherwise
you are the one that's over thinking things
