What I think (rather KNOW) is what I stated --- while at the "other" school in OK he beat the prevailing #1 coach/team/program in the Nation 2 out of 3 years and nearly 3 in a row.

That, IMHO is good COACHING --- whether you credit Les Miles or his assistants is up for debate, I guess ... but you can not deny that Les Mile's teams could do what NOBODY else in the Big 12 (or country) could -- beat Bob Stoops teams in back to back years --- again... nearly 3 in a row.

BTW -- UT had some pretty good teams in that era -- and they NEVER beat Bob Stoops for like 5 years running.

Just saying.....

And just why would anyone take advice on hiring coaches or analyzing football outcomes from Stanley "Skip" Bertman?

He should have stuck to baseball and moved on.

so that makes him a top 10 coach??? come on, even you know that's a stretch...

OK, so he coached good in 2 out of 3 games against OK..

BTW what was his oveall record against Texas? What about Nebraska?

Come on Less wasn't a top ten coach then and he isn't now.. top ten in pay, maybe not in coaching skill...

Which is why your defense that he made a public statement that he wanted to stay at Ole Miss is not really all that solid a piece of ground to stand on.

It is when it is coupled with the fact that Skip didn't want Bianco to be the new head coach.

I've never caught him in a lie. That's more than I can say for many rantards on this board.....

does joe dean get credit for hiring saban?
No, because Joe Dean didn't hire Saban. Mark Emmert did. Dean refused to offer the job to Saban because Dean believed Saban's high salary demand would alienate too many big contributors. Emmert hired NS anyway.

Then why did Skip even unofficially talk with him as many here say did happen. And what would otherwise prompt Bianco to make such a public statement if Skip wasn't at least testing the waters? Behind the scenes "footsie" was being played. That's what it looks like; Skip's fingerprints all over. Then he switched. So Bianco made his public statement after the fact.

People can post whatever shite they want to post on here. That does not make what they post true.

Because Ole Miss supporters were getting restless fearing Bianco might leave. Bianco knew he was not going to be offered the job so he "announced" he was staying. If you don't want to believe those facts, I don't care. I'll take Skip's word over a bunch of pantywaists on a message board who have yet to post a single reliable news source for their claims.

What makes anybody think you have any insider info that has more value, Russian?

All I ever hear is people piss and moan or call other people childish names when they don't agree. This site has gone downhill a little more each year. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if it were shut down.

No doubt. Russian is firmly placing himself as one of the worst posters in a mass of many on this board.

One of those great LSU supporters that didn't attend LSU, doesn't have season tickets, donates nothing to TAF and probably has stepped foot on campus once when he was 12 and his daddy brought him to a game. He's a silly and unfunny joke.

Even though Skip is a relative, I'm going to try and keep this as objective as possible

Yes of course he is going to defend his hiring of Miles, he has done good things. But look it seems that Miles has lost the style he had early on and it has come back to hurt the team. It is almost as if the school hired two different coaches.

I meant the guy I responded to. Russian hangs out with the geezers at the coaches committee meetings.

As a supposed basketball man from Duke-y, the best coach Alleva could find to replace Brady was Trent Johnson

FWIW, Johnson is going to throw it in everyone's face within the next 2-3 years.

Close friend happened to be at the same function (guest of a friend of a friend) with Coach "K"while in Charlotte 2 1/2 years ago, just a few weeks after TJ's announced hire. When introduced, he told him he was from Baton Rouge, and Coach "K" followed with, initiated on his own, (paraphrasing)"...... You have one of the best kept secrets in College BB as your new Head Coach. You will be shocked at the quality of basketball he will bring back to LSU, as well as the quality of leadership and integrity he will instill in his players and program." TRUE STORY I took it as both a great complement to Trent, but a dig on Brady and his Crap.

Don't care if you want to call BS, won't bother me at all. I just think he has been dealt a hand from only half the deck, given the mess that A$$ Brady left behind.

I didn't take time to read all the post but Elleshoe is dead on about Skip. Great baseball coach and a piss poor AD.
