the best hire since Saban in any sport has been Trent Johnson. Convincing him to leave success at Stanford for LSU was big. Its easy to convince someone (even one with great success at ND) to come to one of the best baseball jobs in America. But to leave Stanford for a stagnant basketball program was big.

that seemed to work out fine
look at the state of the program when each took over.. we were not even a top 25 team when we hired Saban.. We took what we could get.
we were a top ten team when we hired Miles.. He was hardly a top 10 coach at Okie State...

The Little Prick did not have to play/recruit against CUM at Fla. (The Zooker beat him in '03) or Petrino at Arky

and he does now, and he just won the SEC and national titles

Bianco even publicly said he was staying at Ole Miss before the search even started.
Oh well then, that's settled. So does that mean what one hears being said publicly is always the absolutely accurate truth? Except... let's see, I think I remember Nick Saban saying publicly that he was not leaving Miami for Alabama.

Don't care. The point is both hires were questioned and both hires brought us National Championships.

Do you want Bianco over Mainieri? Is that what you're saying? Skip didn't want Bianco. Bianco knew that. He made his public statement that he was not interested in the LSU job in order to keep his current employer happy....especially since he knew he was not going to be considered anyway.

a. emmeret was why we got saban. he scouted him, wanted him, and got the money to pay him

b. saban's talent is why we won in 2007. miles did everything to de-rail that season

Saban =/= Bianco
But public statements are public statements. Bill Clinton said he did "not have sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinski" and everyone was free to believe that or not. Likewise Saban, likewise Bianco. If as you said, Bert was not interested in him that's fine. But what if Bert had zeroed in on Bianco, who made that statement, and threw dollars and perks his way. I wonder how things might have panned out on his public statement then. And if you don't also wonder, then I wonder if you understand this coaching mating game that plays out before our eyes and ears every single year.

So you would have preferred Bianco over Mainieri? You didn't answer that question.

hey I give Less credit...

He calls a mean T.O. after a possession change..
He makes a great "clock it" signal...
He's really good at inserting the epression "uuuuuhhh" about 20 times in a 2 minute statement...

ok, thats about it.....
