USCe players will claw and scratch in the name of physicality. Hate Geno Auriemma but he is right

UConn women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma called out the officiating in his team’s 81-77 loss to No. 1 South Carolina.

His frustration with the calls from the referees, Auriemma said, is what led him to slam a water bottle on the court, an action which drew a technical foul. While he called it a “dumb mistake by me,” he also said “a lot of things…were being overlooked.”

“It was very, very difficult for some of our guys to move out on the floor. So I don’t think it was one key play. I just couldn’t keep quiet any longer,” he said. “The technical was stupid. I didn’t say anything for a long, long, long time. If you want to bring (graduate senior guard) Lou (Lopez Sénéchal) in and you can see the bruises on her body.

“It’s just appalling what teams do to her now. It’s not basketball anymore. I don’t know what it is, but it’s not basketball.”

Both Lopez Sénéchal and Nika Muhl fouled out for the No. 5 Huskies in Sunday’s loss, while Kamilla Cardoso fouled out for South Carolina.

Carolina plays hard, tough defense and gives you little to nothing. I am sure Kim will have our ladies ready.

My only real concern, and it’s a big one, is they have so much more depth than we do. But we won’t be intimidated.

I’ve been saying for weeks now, the officiating for the USC will be horrible…every little bump LSU will be called for a foul and USC will get away with everything…

Women's sports are a lot more violent than men's. I don't know if it is because refs don't think women are as capable of hurting someone or what. Women's soccer is the worst.

All this is very true but honestly I think officials are scared shitless of Dawn freaking Staley. Y'all all better be well prepared for the officials letting USCe and more so Boston throw a ton of elbows. They won't get any calls and we will get everything called on us.

Wtf??? Women don't have the same strength or body control, so when they take a softer foul they tend to fall. Unless you are comparing it to LeBron James flops, it's most certainly not more violent. Collisions aren't happening 10 feet in the air.

It's the LSU way. Blame the refs before the game, so there is a built in excuse for a possible loss.

There are a lot more elbows, pushes, grabs, etc. Stuff that would lead to a confrontation in a men's game, the women just dish it out against each other, and the refs let a lot of it go.

This is true. It's done at the high school level too. The men would be fighting all game long if they played how the women played ball. Women games are ruthless regarding physicality.

Is it not normal for players to have some bruises after a basketball game?

KM is pretty intimidating as well.

One thing in our favor is LSU will be on 7 Days rest while SC plays Thursday night.

Bull fricking shite! Do you even watch WBB? I'm thinking not because if you've watched LSU all year and USCe, then you wouldn't make a dumbass comment like you did. Go and watch last years game and see how Boston was swinging the frick out her elbows and got zero calls, will be the same again! They have been doing it all year long and although I don't care for Geno at all, he's 100% correct.

That dude is just pissed because his teams have been doing the same thing for DECADES and he’s not used to being beaten at his own game.
