The great thing is, TM7 gives credit to PatPete all the time. For all the great things that are happening to him, Mathieu hasn't forgotten his journey or the people who helped get him there.

I'm not sure what you think you're getting at, but I think it's probably silly.

He never lost it. He never took a step back on the football field.

Getting kicked off the team as a returning Heisman finalist and preseason AA is a good definition of lost it all. He never played another down of CFB. He had to do a ton of personal rehab with PP7 to get drafted. If there was no PP7 inhis life he would be another urban NOLA failure. Would say he lost it all...

Because the Cardinals GM was to tight to pay Mathieu and pick up his $19M / 2 yr option. They asked TM to take a pay cut which pizzed him and his agent off (Tom Condon). Since both parties couldn't come to an agreement on re-working the deal, TM was released to be a free agent.

Mathieu signed a 1 yr $7M contract with HOU in 2018 and gambled on himself. KC knew the type of leader and player he was and signed TM to a 3 yr / $42M contract ; $27M guaranteed.

Good post and good news for TM.
He finally got paid and the MVP says KC did the smart thing, too.

Mathieu's maturity after Peterson took him aside and worked with him to get his shite together is stunning.

How many people would donate 7 figures to a school that threw them out?

His mental and physical toughness to come back from the injuries he's suffered as a pro are nothing to sniff at, either.

If you wanted someone to look up to, you could find FAR worse examples than Tyrann Mathieu.

I think he owes a little bit to Les as well. Les gave him some tough love he probably wouldn't have received on other teams. Les never cut him off from the team and tried to help him even after he suspended him.

Just my opinion … Mathieu didn't "lose it all". His selfish actions cost him to lose his remaining CFB eligibility and lots of humility. His profession and means to earn a living were never taken away since he was drafted in the 3rd rd. Upon becoming a member of the NFL, his prior "weed smoking" slate was wiped clean. With the help of PP and others, he cleaned up his image and changed his focus on greater priorities in life. Mathieu could have easily ended up like Dexter Manley (suspended for life) or Steve Howe (MLB Life Suspension) who basically lost everything due to substance abuse. An example of somebody who "lost it all" would be Cecil Collins.

What did he lose? Playing time in a league he wouldn’t be compensating for his efforts in?

Point made, but that point is pretty detrimental to something we all love dearly.
