Man I just don't get it. We're all upset with the loss. But this team absolutely gutted it out the second half of the season and literally left everything on the field. And SECONDS after the season ends you're coming with this trash.

You can't win a championship every year. There's lots of teams with very good players who are all trying to do the same thing. This team has been faced with basically elimination games since the start of the Ole Miss series and they have come through over and over.

This is your team, that suited up in purple and gold and literally left it all out on the field while you sat at home in the air condition each game drinking a beer. And as soon as it ends you take the time to point at them and use the word failure.

There's more I'd like to say but it would get personal real quick so I'll stop here.

Let me also say this about this season: I would have felt wayyyy worse if we won the first 4/5 series and finished down the stretch 3-12 and then lost a regional. What we did down the stretch was nothing short of incredible and this last month has been fun af. I wish we could have hosted WVU next weekend, but a month ago at this time I didn’t even expect to be in the tourney.

To answer your question though, I think the floor for each season should be to at least make a regional.

For sure. I’d like to think that they could have success in the future in non-host scenarios but yeah, historically it matters.

I was just saying if there was a 5 year run where they made supers/omaha 4 of the years but only hosted twice, it wouldn’t really matter.

But you’re definitely correct.

Yea, basing success on whether you host or not and not factoring in the things you mentioned as well as the committee fricking up seeding or things like that isn’t the best metric.

Idk what the rule should be. I think we should compete for Omaha more year than we don’t. You kinda know it when you see it.

Our goal should be to host a Regional every year. But it is unreasonable to EXPECT to host one every year, IMO.

My personal goal as a season ticket holder is for LSU to make the CWS every year, but I know that won't happen.

My floor for LSU Baseball is for us to make the NCAA every season.

Jay has been here for three seasons and we've not fallen below that floor. I feel that LSU will contend in the NCAA annually as long as JJ is at the helm.

The idea that the defending national champion should just reload and run it back are asinine.

If you’re reloading every year, you aren’t winning titles because titles take experience and talent. When you have experience and talent you’re losing those guys the following season.

Goodness. Overreact much?

We had a great season and I'm proud of those guys.

Team improved during the season for sure.

So then it wasn't a failure, yes?

Especially now.

There's a reason why the defending champ has only made it back to Omaha twice since 2016 (Florida in 2018 and Vandy in 2021) and even Vandy has an asterisk because COVID happened in between.

The parity makes the tournament such a gauntlet now that the teams that win it have two things 1) top-end talent 2) A roster core that has been together for 2-3 years.

It's why we need Jay to start hitting on his HS recruiting classes, getting talent from the transfer portal can cover some holes, but you can't have that be your main source of recruiting your starting lineup like it was this year, because now you can make the argument that next year will be a rebuild year as well with Jump and Holman gone.

The absolute floor should be where we are tonight- contending for but barely missing a super regional.

I think there’s a good core to build around.

Hopefully Anderson sticks around, because I think he’s got the stuff to be very good.

Milam, Brown and Larson will be mainstays for the next 2 years.

Larson

With the caveat that he is still a freshman, I just don't see it with Larson yet.

He definitely can't play outfield and I need to see more pop from his bat to slot him in at 1B.

Honest answer. Jay is doing everything I hope and expect from LSU with the current landscape. We are contenders and in the discussion and that’s all I can ask for. If you have 90s expectations then I’m embarrassed for you

He hit .300 as a freshman.

Morgan played 1B for 3 years. He was great at barreling up but he didn’t have a ton of pop.

ETA: I’m not saying he’s a good as Morgan. I’m just saying 1B isn’t a power only position anymore.

We are contenders in the sense that we are the LSU blue blood brand and we just won a title, but Johnson has had 3 teams at LSU and 2 of them were never a title contender.

That's not me shitting on Jay either, because the first team was his first year and the second team was him needing to replace basically an entire championship-caliber squad. I just think it's too early to say we are consistent contenders under him.

If Larson plays 1B like Morgan, then yeah, the lack of pop doesn't matter. I just don't see that being the case because no one can play 1B like Morgan.

Floor should be regional host every single year, and with that and the advantage of LSU's home crowd, should make it pretty likely to win a home region and move to the supers. Thats the floor each year.

I’ll give anyone who hits .300 as a freshman a shot. He’s got the frame to add some more power.

that’s obviously the goal every year, but calling it “the floor” is just unrealistic.

this conference is already absurdly deep and is about to get even deeper.

I get big Alex Edward vibes from him, who ironically, we stuck in the OF as a freshman in 2010 because he was hitting .300 and... well... it was an adventure.

That’s fair but thoughts on Tim Corbin? He signs a top 3 class every year and Vanderbilt seems to be wildly inconsistent.

What about Sullivan? Dude has had bad seasons and struck gold this year getting paired with Oklahoma state.

Jay is going to always give lsu a respectable chance in a sport with insane parity so not sure what you think the bar is
