I'll take that call all game. I have no problem with him calling it a strike on us either.

I'm interested to see how Gilbert does when the batters adjust to that outside pitch.

It's even more annoying that some people won't acknowledge it and would prefer to say "so what FU". If it was happening to their team though, melt. Grilled cheese melt.

I think everyone is acknowledging the umpire's zone is awful. But we have to deal with him too. Let's not act like it's some kind of advantage to LSU

Oregon State lefties will hit once they realize they can just punch that the other way and be fine. He's giving it all game (both ways...and he's missed some on both sides as well) the hitters need to adjust.

Wait til we're called out on a similar pitch.

This is why as a neutral, casual observer that I can't take this stuff seriously. These umpires are absolutely atrocious and this is supposed to be at the top level of college baseball.

Yeah this is really bad. Its time to start using technology that we have had for almost two decades and use computer + camera technology to call strikes and balls. The biggest push-back to this change is the abundance of traditionalist in the sport, and they are ruining it.

The difference is Gilbert is missing really close when he misses. You make the guys see it there and right on the corner enough they all start to look the same. Fehmel is missing wildly sometimes.

Pap didn't have to move his mitt a millimeter. Hit your spots and you get away with a pitch like that every now and then.

Also LSU is up there hacking and osu is continuing to take.

This is a great point. Some umps have a philosophy of calling strikes to urge a "taking" type team to swing. They believe in making the batters earn it rather than the other way around. This would explain this umps strike zone.

At the risk of "looking ahead," I hope we get this ump during the championship series.

It means that OSU has to swing the bat and stop waiting on walks and Gilbert to collapse.

Gilbert is hitting spots and in command. That's the difference.

Strike zone has been inconsistent for both teams. The officiating all CWS has been pretty poor
