Love the Robinson hire because he is a proven recruiter (lotta skins on the wall) and has a lot of experience coaching RB's at several Power 5 schools.

He's a HR IMO.

Joseph is a NO native (a plus) and is well known in LA, but he has not proven up to this point that he can recruit at a high level. Furthermore, he only has 4 years of experience since 2000 of coaching the WR position at the SWAC level (Alabama St., Alcorn, Grambling). I'm most concerned about his ability to develop our WR's given his resume.

No Power 5 experience as a WR coach does not inspire confidence in me, but he is getting a hell of an opportunity. Good for him.

The Mickey Joseph hire should nip this New Orleans HS coach bullshite in the bud.

this board and the MSB are intended to give voice to the issues and concerns of the people who follow the team. You better stop reading the board man. You can't control other people. PS. Son is not capitalized unless its the first word in a sentence or reference to the Lord Jesus Himself. Your boy is not God Incarnate. Lower case.
Your pedestal you have your son on does not confer rights to control the rest of us.

I believe it was O who first hired Frank Wilson while he as at Ole Miss and Frank had no P5 experience. Hopefully this Joseph hire is in the same vein.

Thought after typing, "at Ole Miss" I realize I probably poisoned my own position.

Mickey Joseph has the feel of Coach Tony Ball to it. Pretty uninspiring

most late hits on the sidelines are done intentionally to injure.

I want to see such behavior eliminated by kicking the foul-guy out of the NCAA. Cant even play in D-II.
If he's a senior, take 10 scholarships. Just stop it.
Its vicious and refs allow too much of it.

I'd be willing to bet 80% of you clowns have never even heard of Mickey Joseph before he was mentioned for the job...now it's "oh he's an uninspiring hire, meh hire" etc.

You don't think those two thing could go together? That a guy most people he never heard of is uninspiring?

mickey will use the NFL connection with his brother Vance to sell recruits. I think this is a homerun hire.

I went to Shaw. He, his brothers and cousins are legends on the Westbank. They know football. I think he will be a great recruiter. What I worry about is his ability to develop WRs which is something we have been lacking the past 3 years. I hope he does a great job.

LSU in the 80's was decidedly pro-style- Risher, Wickersham, Hodson, etc.

He was an elite option qb in the 80's who wanted to play qb in college. That pretty much gave him the option of Nebraska or Oklahoma.

He can tell a great story to recruits about life after football. He didn't make the NFL and probably would have had more opportunities had he gone to school in LA.

To be fair, we weren't what we are
Joseph signed in January of 1988

In 1986 we won the SEC title

In 1987 we finished 5 in the country

So yeh, we were better?

I'd prefer someone that can coach our WRs up, we've seen here firsthand how much it helps when you compare good ones like Monken and Henry to scrubs like Mccarthy, Ball, etc. Joseph is a very uninspiring hire No complaints with Robinson, well done there
Correct.

MJ is Craig/Juluke 2.0.

What with so many much more qualified and experienced WR coaches out, this is .

Don't know why this football program refuses to bring in a really great technical WR Coach.

LSU does not need a dedicated New Orleans Recruiter taking up space on the Staff. Winning SEC and National Championships will bring in all the NOLA recruits you want!

A blown opportunity here and a first chenk in the Orgeron armor................

Joseph actually has coached WRs in the SWAC level and his receivers don't drop passes. No matter what, technical teaching translates to whatever conference. I have confidence Joseph will do fine and hold down New Orleans because that is always a key region for us.

Who has Joseph coached that is in the NFL? Serious question. Also, isn't the SWAC the worst quality football in FCS?
