Correct. It’s not the best interest of the team to win the regional though.

So, based on Labas' starts since the 124 pitch game, but more specifically the last 2, LSU is better to start him today and likely have to pull Labas somewhere during or after the 2nd-4th innings and likely burn at least 3 more pitchers to finish the game? There is no winning the regional if losing today. You guys act like there are 2-3 more quality starters and 5-6 high leverage relievers in the bull pen. After watching the last 5 innings of UO-C CN yesterday LSU definitely has the weakest lineup in this regional if that wasn't already a given. I have more trust in Hilliard having a competitive start that anyone else, and hope some luck falls LSU's way in any remaining games.

Yes Lester. It's the same as losing a game and saying "but we only lost by one run". Who cares? You have to win 3 games to win a regional- 4 if you fall into the losers bracket. What is so important about 1 win, if it jeopardizes your best chance to actually win the regional?

Don't be obtuse. This isn't that hard to understand.

If Paul really had designs on winning the regional he wouldn’t burn his best remaining arm against the 4 seed. He has no such designs though so it’s moot.

Again, it’s the coach bunting to avoid 0-2 that’s disappointing. This program should not be in this position. I’m not sure how many times I have to post this.

Blake Money isn't even in Eugene

Well, replace that name with someone else who hasn't been dependable all season. The point is that we don't have enough reliable arms to realistically get through this regional, but by using Hilliard now, that's your best remaining starter gone against the 4 seed. It just feels like kneeling midway through the 2nd quarter.

Guys, we’re just not very good. We just aren’t. I’m pulling like hell for LSU but there’s no way we win four straight with this ball club.

Probably because he doesn't believe Labas can put up a competitive effort and Q and 2 is worse than 1-2. I don't really care as this team has too many underperforming pieces to accomplish what the fan base wants regardless who starts today. Even Tennessee was on the verge of losing yesterday in the 9th and then Wright St had to go to the BP and lost.

It’s not like this 4 seed was beaten 16-0. CCSU just put 10 runs on the 1 seed. They aren’t a pushover and you can’t just pencil in our worst starter as a gimme. If you want to win the regional you need to (now) win 4 games.

Some of you follow and post on baseball all year long yet show a surprising lack of awareness.

Because you can’t win the regional without winning that game. It’s not jeopardizing anything. You’re a 3seed, last 5 team in, in the losers bracket after 1 day.

You have to scrap to stay alive. If they can piece it together great. But this isn’t about saving a legacy. It’s one game at a time.

What you are saying simply is not logical. The games aren’t played in a vacuum.

Best case tonight, they jump up early & you can pull Hillard after a few innings for later in the regional. Labas in G3 still gives you a solid option to win. If he can just give you a QS you are firmly in the mix
