It had so much craziness even compared to other wild LSU games. The oranges, the fog, the goal posts and the skit pregame. One thing to remember is this was the fourth season in a row that we played the Criminoles and had lost three previous times.

I was in the Student Section. I threw oranges. I remember the fog that descended on the field where you could barely see.
Tigers took care of business that night.

How did a service like Tigervision even work in 1982?

I remember literally having to go to Cox, or even 7-11 (yes, the gas station/convenience store) to pick up a cable box to watch tigervision games. Then return it on Monday.
You are correct. I worked for the cable company from 88-99. For Tigervision you had to actually pick up the box that would allow you to catch the game. Tigervison Productions covered the whole game from the announcers to the camera crews, sideline reporters, etc. They broadcasted the game via satellite and the boxes descrambled the signal.
They made a shite load of money.
I worked in Thibodaux and we covered all of Thibodaux, Raceland, Assumption Parish, Chackbay, Vacherie and Paulina and Convent across the river. It was nothing to sell 2000-3000 Tigervison boxes on a Saturday night. It was full crew every Saturday night and a pain in the arse because a lot of the boxes wouldn’t work. Imagine rolling up to a LSU football party at someone’s house and everyone waiting on you to get the box working, lol.
My uncle still has that game on VHS.

The post game interview was noteworthy in that Stovall was being interviewed by the daughter of the person who fired him. I am sorry it didn’t work out for Stovall. Great guy.
Bob Broadhead’s daughter. Sacked is a great book about that era of LSU athletics.
That was also Pete Jenkins first year as DC.

The FSU game was the last one I remember them renting those heavy metal stadium seats with canvas and padding. It was one thing to look back and see oranges coming down from up high but I remember seeing a couple of those chairs as well.

Stovall had Bo Rein's coaches and became NCAA coach of the year and fired three years later. He picked the wrong QB. I haven't seen a QB like Timmy Byrd, that kid was incredible.

My sister and I were at the game. People selling oranges outside for like 5 bucks a bag. My mother had Tigervision when it first came out, although she stole it via a chip or something. They scrambled the signal and she got so pissed she dropped her LSU alumni account, and there went the tickets.
