Piggybacking on the other FSU Orange game thread. I posted this some years ago and figure this might be a good time to revisit. I’m just gonna copy and paste my video description here to point out all of the amazing hilarity of the final minutes of that broadcast…
Hope y’all enjoy…

Apologies for poor quality. From an old VHS tape and filmed with iphone. The funny parts are definitely clear enough though.
One of the classic games in Tiger Stadium history. Was there with my dad as a 16 year old high school junior across the field from the student section. Incredible scene as oranges rained down and fog rolled in over the north endzone. Well this video is unique in that the hot camera as the final seconds ticked down was at field level and aimed at the student section. Some really funny things to see:
-- At about the 0:15 mark of the video there is a cop at field level pointing into the student section. Right before the camera cuts away a drink comes flying out of the stands right into his face. Pretty funny.
-- Once the clock hits 0:00 you can see multiple people heaving oranges onto the field. One guy in particular, in a green shirt and wearing glasses, and right in front of the camera, gets pegged in the back right as he releases his final orange. Hilarious reaction. That portion is rewound and replayed in slo mo as the look on his face at the moment of contact is priceless.
-- The next funny sight is immediately after he goes down. I remember when older folks used to be sat at field level right in front of the student section. Seems crazy but that's how it was. Well right after the previously mentioned casualty, in the bottom right corner of the video, there are two elderly ladies cowering from the pandemonium erupting around them. And of course after the camera cut away hundreds of students came over that wall, many of them surely right over the ladies, on their way to the field. Poor ladies must've been petrified.
-- Finally, I remember hearing allegations of excessive force by the police in clearing the field. A little of that is in evidence as well. Near the end of the video students can be seen being yanked down off of the goal posts with pretty significant force, and then the cops can be seen behind the endzone at the very least throwing students around in a very rough manner.
So, all in all, quite a few interesting little points in the video that certainly reflect the craziness of that night in Tiger Stadium.
Hope y’all enjoy…

We lived in Birmingham at that time and came in to BR twice a year for games along with hitting a couple road games every season.
Luckily we came in for this FSU orange game. As an 11 year old kid it was unbelievable night and great memory.
It started with Mike the Tiger scalping a fake FSU Seminole mascot, place went berserk!

Doug Moreau's first year in the booth doing color commentary (he had been on the sidelines the previous 10 seasons) on Tigervision.
At the time he was a sitting, elected judge of the 19th JDC (well prior to being the elected DA for EBR).

Yeah I was at that one too and it SUCKED!!!
This video though is more about the insanity at the end and the very unlikely video of it.
You really never see this kind of camera view at the very end of a game as the clock is ticking down. Very lucky that Tigervision did it that way in my opinion.

Wow. That one brunette looks exactly like a girl I knew in college. But she was 6 years old in 1982 so it isn't the same person.

Caught his spear and broke it over his knee at midfield. Stadium went nuts.

That’s the LSU FB I grew up with. Those damned inexplicable losses.

Our group was about midway of the student section. A BRSO was about 10 rows down throwing oranges, one of my buddies hit him in the head with an orange. Then BRSO and his brethren tried to come get us. We just had a lot of pushing and shoving.

I was seated upper east side and I couldn’t see the ball on punts and passes for a large part of the game

I was there. The amount of oranges on the field was unreal. They were everywhere

How did a service like Tigervision even work in 1982?

Best of my memory I’m pretty sure you just ordered it and it would be added to your next bill which you would receive in the mail.
