My bad, sir, good post. Finger hit downvote instead of upvote. Didn’t mean to do that! ??

How’d he do in his first season compared to what Jay is doing right now?

Are you comparing the LSU program that Johnson inherited to the Tennessee program that Vitello inherited? Lol. This has been said multiple times in this thread and it's just as stupid each time. But after his first season with a bad Tennessee team that he inherited. He has had 40+ wins a season every year. And when during the first year he improved their SEC win total by 5 wins. I'm not turning on Johnson at all and will give him a few years, but I still think Vitello would've been the better hire.

Vitello would've been a much better option. His recruiting with the pull LSU already has would've been crazy. I have no idea why Woodward didn't even attempt to get him.

Are you suggesting Jay isn’t an incredible recruiter?

By what was reported in the media during the coaching search? Vitello came out and said he wasn't interested and you never heard another thing about LSU attempting to change his mind.

Some people in the media said we offered him 2.1 million…

So I think it’s safe to say (at the very least) we have no idea what happened.

No, I've just never seen Johnson recruit to the level Vitello has at Tennessee. Like I said, I'm not turning on Johnson and I hope he proves me wrong. But Johnson had a great Arizona team that he inherited that went to the college world series final in his first year. Then he had 3 pretty bad years for LSU and even Arizona standards. Then Finally last year he got back to the college World series. Vitello has built a juggernaut out of a terrible SEC baseball program in his fifth year.

Listen, I didn't start the thread. I'm still a fan of LSU baseball, and Jay Johnson. I hope he does well here. I'm not bashing the guy. Having said that, I hoped LSU would hire Vitello over the summer and I think he would've been a better hire by LSU. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens with Johnson. I sure hope he's able to get things turned around quick.

Hard to swallow he probably would have come here in a second.

He wasn’t coming with what he had coming back and in.

No, fricking retard, I’m not, and that’s irrelevant. Vitello took over a 27-25 program and went 29-27 the next year. Literally zero improvement. Jay took over a team that went 38-25 and he’ll probably have a similar record this year despite losing BY FAR our best pitcher.

You have no reason to think that Vitello would’ve been a better hire based on what we’ve seen so far and based on the total lack of improvement he had at Tennessee in his first year. If the rantards didn’t have Vitello’s balls in their mouth and he came to LSU and had the same lack of improvement record-wise he did at Tennessee in year 1, y’all would’ve been calling for his head too.

None of y’all know a fricking thing about baseball so Jay was the greatest after we beat Florida in a series last week and now he’s the worst because we lost to auburn. Total reactionary morons and it’s embarrassing

What I'm telling you is you're judging JJ on 1/2 of Season 1.

PM left this program worse off than when he got here and JJ just signed an amazing class.

So you’re telling me that Vitello alone would fix the errors? It’s not like the roster would look a lot different than it is right now. Vitello has had multiple years to build the teams how he wants it. JJ has been hear for 1/2 of a season. Let’s make this judgement after year 3.

He would have. Y’all act like he had everyone come back. They had to convert a catcher to the OF ffs and the pitching was supposed to take a step back.

I love Jays confidence in going after the big players but let’s not pretend like the class matters before August.

LSU pitching isn't losing the games for the most part but that's fine. I hope we see the improvement to the program that Tennessee saw with Vitello in years 2-5 of Johnson's tenure. I'm just not sure that's going to happen. That's fine though. I'll be thrilled if it does.

You need to settle down a bit though. Lol. You're calling me a retard because I said that I prefer Vitello. In every one of my posts I've said that I haven't turned on Jay Johnson. Once again, I didn't start this thread. I do think it's hard to compare Tennessee's improvement in year one under Vitello to LSU in year one under Johnson.

Johnson has a lot more talent on this team. But once again we're only halfway through the season. Things could change drastically by the end of the season.
Hopefully LSU improves through the second half of the season.

He has four very high mlb draft picks among others, starting pitching that has been ok enough to win games, and a lights out bullpen. He has “guys”.

It’s just been sloppy. He needs to dial it in, fast

And let me add with what Tennessee put up and promised. Like it or not the Box needs to be upgraded.

Jay hates the box. I think he was made promises as well. But basketball has priority.

How was his talent compared to JJ. Let’s not act like JJ is struggling due to lack of talent.

UT before Tony is a whole different boat than LSU.

JJ still needs this year and next before we start to form any conclusive opinion
