It's not a swipe. I kinda agree. He is soft. Great at covering and catching. He is a really good runner and very smart, but does not possess the killer mentality.

Stingley’s father on OTB this morning. “I asked Derek at halftime if he was going to be able to play. He said dad I’m in a ton of pain but I’m going to go out there and fight for my brothers like they would do for me.”

What is his dad doing talking to his son at halftime?

What do you care?

It’s his dad and he’s a kid, they can have a quick chat.

he's never really struck me as a "rah rah" guy, even when he's balling out. he celebrates some, but even last year, he'd make plays and not really do much but go on to the next play. he's somewhat subdued by DBU standards.

Unfortunately that is the MO of most fans it seems.

Orgeron takes a program in free fall and in three years turns it into the best season/team ever.
Then most of the talent leaves and defensive philosophy changes. Covid hits and interrupts practice, preventing installation and familiarity of the new defense.
Catastrophe Syndrome full blown sets in.

You can be wrong with Herbie, Stingley ran down a Mizzou guy & tackled him even though he was in obvious pain. That tackle actually saved a touchdown

This is 110% BS.

Stingley has been putting out, games and practice.

Yes, he loafed a little bit because of injury in the Mizzou game only. I look at that differently in the sense even though he was hurt he kept going because he knew we needed him.

And yes, there might be some motivational issues- but it is defense wide, not just Stingley. But if I had to rank the starters from most affected to least effected by this Stingley is #10 or #11.

Even on a hurt ankle he was still trying to make tackles and save us from others failures on the field and sideline.

Herbie is mad because he picked Stingley to be his heisman winner and he has underperformed

He was clearly trying to play through a bum ankle and shouldn’t have been out there.

Also tackling isn’t much of an issue when there’s multiple TD passes that there isn’t an LSU defender on the TV screen as the WR scores

You think it would be good for all players to have their parents there for a "quick chat"?

He is an adult and had an ankle sprain that he was playing on.

Seems as shitty as we are playing, the last thing a coach needs is for parents to be talking to their kids at halftime.

Stingley ran down the player by anticipating where he was going to be rather than running to where the player was or had been. All game the DB's pursuit was to where the player was. They must be bad duck hunters because they probably shoot at the duck instead of leading the duck. When Stingley ran the player down, I told my wife he is the only player to do that and he is playing smart even thought he is hurt.

Well he isn’t accurate. Stingley is plenty interested in tackling

Chase made a business decision and quit on his team. Stingley got clipped earlier in the game, manned up, and still played. Stingley hurt is still our best option at corner, he is that good. So Herbie... STFU!

Used to be juniors that didn’t want to play. Now it’s sophomores. How long before football turns into basketball and one and dones?
