Scoring error

Posted by oiltiger on 1/10/24 at 10:03 am
In last night's basketball game, LSU had four points and then made a three point basket. The score remained four and the three point shot was not recorded. After another two point shot, the score was six rather than the correct nine.

It remained this way for the whole game and was not corrected. How can this be with so many people keeping statistics? Surely somebody during the game should have noticed this!

It didn't make any difference in the win but it could have.
Let’s wait until June to have this discussion!!!
Emery Ballard as an assistant coach at Oklahoma did in the late 50’s or early 60’s. It was called a red dog then. Its now called blixing.
It posted before I was finished. We have also lost to Arkansas many times when we were the better team. They have knocked us out of going to Atlanta when we matched like they and us are now.
I remember when we beat no. 1 Florida and the week before we only beat Vanderbilt because
they had to go for two at the end of the game. They didn’t make it and uh we won. The next week we lost to Ole Miss.

What happened to Langston?

When Smith from Terrebone and Langston from Florida we’re recruited, they were both suppose to be super stars. Smith is. What happened to Langston?

re: Tickets to Saturday's game

Terd Furguson,

Thank you for the offer but I don't want to obtain tickets until I am in Baton Rouge as I have been delayed many times on the Basin Bridge. If I am delayed, I will keep going to my destination without going to the game.

Once again, thanks for the offer.

Tickets to Saturday's game

Posted by oiltiger on 5/9/22 at 11:19 am
I will be in Baton Rouge about noon on Saturday and would like to go to the game. How and where do I buy tickets.
I do not want to buy them early as I have been stuck on the basin bridge too many times.
I go back to tall Paul. I have always thought that the 1969 team was the best. I am still bitter about what Notre Dame did that year. They screwed us. If they had announced that they would play in bowls prior to LSU being asked to go to the Cotton Bowl, it would be a different thing. But they screwed us out of any bowl by the way they did it. Andy Hamilton showed them a thing or two a few years later.

Go to Hell Notre Dame go to hell

Lets return to the basics

Although its been 59 years since I have been on a college football practice field, I still remember that you must master the basics to play well. When I watch LSU football I see areas that need to improve. There needs to be a more basic practice instead of all this finesse and sophistication.

The offensive lineman need to spend a lot more time on the two man and seven man sleds. The need to study index cards of the blocking assignments rather than spending so much time in the bars at ten o'clock.

The defense needs to practice tackling real people instead to tackling dummies. Tackling dummies do not move and have no leg drive. Practice tackling red shirts and walk ons. They also have to learn convergence. Don't run to where the runner is but to where he is going to be. Because if you run to where he is, he is not going to be there when you get there. You don't shot a duck where is is but you lead him.

As Walter Alston and John Wooden both said, "take care of the basics and you will win"

Tulane is an excellent school academically
When Bush was playing he said he took the entire offensive line to dinner each week at the best steak house in L.A.

I said, at the time, how does a kid from the inner city have the money to do that. The NCAA is asleep when they don't see something so obvious.
Stingley ran down the player by anticipating where he was going to be rather than running to where the player was or had been. All game the DB's pursuit was to where the player was. They must be bad duck hunters because they probably shoot at the duck instead of leading the duck. When Stingley ran the player down, I told my wife he is the only player to do that and he is playing smart even thought he is hurt.
