the best way to describe Mett at this point is serviceable

No, man, he's a whole lot better than serviceable. I was a Mett skeptic before the season, but he's really impressed me. Most of us compare college QBs to the pros, but that's so unfair. The pros practice so much more. Mett has a big league arm, great pocket presence, and he's tough as nails. Those last two have been a pleasant surprise for me. I have a feeling that a couple of these next three games are going to be close like Auburn. We'll need even breaks to get through them. If we do, watch out, Bama! And it will be all downhill from there because Mett and the offense will be in a groove.

Agreed. Although I cannot believe I am admitting to agreeing with Herbstreit on anything. <hanging head in shame>

This and nothing but this. We had at least three drops on Saturday. One would have been a first down, another would have been at least a 40-yard gain, and the other would have been a TD. Just those three catches would have turned the game around.

Also, if JD doesn't play matador at left tackle all night, then Mett is likely a lot more focused upfield.

When you take off the proverbial purple and gold glasses you can't help but agree. This is a overall young team I think 10-2 will be a good year.

I caught some of Herbstreit today. I once respected him but after seeing him almost begging for Bama to be in the NC last year lost all respect. He comes on Finebaum every week and kisses Bama's arse and they lap it up. He's got no balls whatsoever.

I believe he is just part of the biased machine ESPN has become in college football. They don't report the news they make the news. Did you see the birthday party for Matt Barkley a couple of weeks ago? They decided this year that someone other than the SEC would have two teams in the NC. And I guarantee they will be hammering that point home the rest of the season. ESPN is near the top of my shite list. And it's a pretty long list.

Herb-street is in a journalism job, you can't expect his tweets to be explanatory and make sense!

I will comment on his tweet AFTER he clarifies what the hell he is talking about!

What college QB isn't a work in progress? Lsu is vulnerable...any team is vulnerable. Thanks Mr. Obvious.

also, too much is being hung on Mett. he's looked really good all things considered. better than I thought he would from an accuracy and poise perspective. his blocking and receivers have been a letdown.

...and the current schedule dictates a time to step up a bit, especially with the burden of OL issues and WR fumble fingers.

I agree, mett isn't there yet, he is still improving. Lsu is at its most vulnerable right now. Doesn't mean we are very vulnerable though

He may not be the sole problem, but he has had 3 turnovers in the redzone. If that is not corrected, it WILL come back to bite us this season. Everyone keeps wanting to blame the WR's/OL etc., but Mett has made his own share of mistakes....and particularly troubling is the red zone mistakes. We suck in the red zone, and you can say what you want, but last year with Lee, LSU was VERY GOOD in the red zone, and a VERY EFFICIENT offense. Can he be good? Absolutely. But, quit blaming everyone else. EVERYONE, including Mett, has made significant mistakes.

agree, still lots of question marks on O and inconsistency on D. LSU has a gigantic target on their backs, fronts, sides...we will get everyones best shots.

Herby is the same guy that almost wet his pants when he announced the Honey Badger was kick off the team. He sucks monkey balls for Ohio St. Usc Saban & ok. :rimshot: Our biggest problem right now is our OF line. Every year Les tells us this is the best OF line he has ever coached. The OF line better step up soon are we are in trouble!

Mett's not the problem right now.

If our OL played up to their preseason hype and our WRs didn't have a case of butterfingers, Mett would be averaging ~225 yards passing per game.

Can we just get this autoposted on every board that mentions Mett?
