I wouldn't say no one could beat you, but if LSU plays up to their potential, they should easily win tonight. The thing is, I have NO reason to believe they will or even come close to playing up to their potential.

Well-said. That's totally understandable. I hope they some how show up because this team is so loaded and should be playing so much better than what they have been lately.

SOS I assume. I dont know. All i know is that the BCS computers had VT #1, LSU #2 and Ohio St #3.
Looking at the breakdown, 2 computers had OSU #1, one had LSU #1, and 3 had VT #1. 2 computers had OSU #5, so Im guessing your SOS sucked last year.

Yes. Va Tech's computer ranking got a HUGE boost... because they played (and got blownout) against LSU. The rest of their schedule sucked.

ESPN just showed that the leader of the Bowl Mania "thingy" has 424 points and Kirk has 184. I don't think I'd put too much weight in what Kirk says......

Not (necessarily) true. In the Colley, for example, a loss will always hurt you. Although, a loss to LSU last year would hurt almost none at all. Also, the BCS wont let the computers consider score, so getting blown out by LSU made no difference and thats the way the BCS bigwigs want it.
Looking at last year's Colley (which had VT #2 and OSU #4), VT had the #24 SOS and OSU the #73.
OSU's problem was a weak conference and OOC wins over the #77, 98 and 113 teams + Youngstown St. Illinois at #18 was the only top 20 team and you lost it.
VT lost to #1 and #11. They also beat #11 and the rest of their schedule wasnt nearly as weak as OSU's.

FWIW, Kirk's big points game may not be played yet, while all of the leader's big points games have.

Not in this case. This defense has done nothing all year against a good offense. There is no reason to think based on performance that we will stop that offense. There is reason to believe that if the defense plays to its talent level that they could turn in a very good game. But noone has seen that yet this year. I'm hoping they are prepared and ready and don't give up big plays like they have done all year. Sometimes you just have to be objective about things.

Herbstreit is a jerk that is a given. But how do you know what he thinks the outcome of the game will be. Just because his bosses told him to pick GT doesn't mean he believes that. ESPN is NOT about intelligent debate over game outcomes. ESPN is all about having two guys argue/debate each other over who is going to win... even when they both agree! One must argue against what he believes with regularity on ESPN!
