re: Hearing LSU is $80 million in the hole. Which means...

They can come up with the money if they want to do so. However, I would imagine the decision would be conditioned on knowing exactly how O is going to conduct his search. The next hire has to be thoroughly vetted and be the result of a clear process.
They can’t simply keep giving Orgeron a blank check to make another stupid hire based on his gut, familiarity and comfort.

We probably made well over a hundred million last year with the Championship revenue stream.

Giving Orgeron more money for other, ill conceived hires is. Just treating the symptom, not dealing with the underlying problem.
Orgeron is the problem.
If left up to him, Amos Alonzo Stagg would be his next hire.

Do you understand how the TAF works?

Those enormous coaching, support staff and admin salaries are not variable. Neither are player OH costs.

I don’t totally disagree with you but they can't fire O. It’s not just his buyout but all the other buyouts that would accompany it.
If O keeps Pelini then ‘21 will be a repeat of ‘20. Assuming O wants to replace Bo.

I stopped donating TAF after GFloyd garbage. I get letters asking me to come back.

Finally someone understands this... Also, buyouts come from booster money... We have it

They are not $80 million in the hole. Their revenue is 80 million less. That doesn’t meant they won’t make money. Revenue is down but so is their variable costs
Economics iz hard

LSU AD probably pulled in close to 170 MM in 2019-2020 with about 140 MM going to salaries of coaches, support staff, etc.

LSU may have lost a ton of money this year - like all programs have - but they're no where near the food stamp line, either. The top money-making programs may have to tighten the belt a little bit, but they will be just fine!

No shite. But having less games/less home games / no crowd / no official visits or recruiting trips all reduce costs plus you still get the Sec tv money / bowl money /sponsor money
If anyone thinks TAF is broke they are idiots
Posted on 12/6/20 at 3:43 pm to jbraua
Well, it's gonna get worse before better then, cause season tickets and very high TAF fees have become an asinine proposition for the piss poor performance, and I don't care to support it anymore, when I can save a lot of annual monies by buying single games vs caring about sitting in the same seats for WAY too much money.

BS. Economic impact of a successful football program to our school, city, and state is well-documented.
The next moves are big ones, obviously, but no doubt they’re coming...Woodward knows they have to.

Could be more with things like merchandise licensing, etc...

Good. Maybe Bob Mann can shut up and just vacuum his damn office without complaining now.

No coach, who we would want, is hitching his wagon to O until O gets cleared of any wrong doing with Title 9. I can guarantee you there are decision makers who want O to get caught up in that mess so he can be fired for cause. Once the LSU legal team signs off O is gone.
If that happens in Feb then we hire a new coach who hires his own staff. This is why Vol's assertion all these new coaches are coming is stupidity. Everyone from the top down at LSU knows nothing can be done until the Title 9 investigation is over.

Yes I know how TAF works. Long time member and in the top quarter of loyalty/priory points for what it’s worth. But that’s irrelevant. This has been discussed ad nauseam on this board. TAF can’t justify that kind of spending when the institution it supports is in that kind of mess. Optics for one, common sense for other. Also TAF revenue is down with projected expenses upwards of $150 million this year. The financials are sobering when you look at them, not to mention uncertain exposure with the current Title IX investigation. It’s not the right moment to go paying a bunch of buyouts as bad as we want them. Furthermore, the biggest boosters are not just made of money either. Some of them have assets tied up right now bc of Covid-induced economic struggles. It’s amazing how quick many on this board are to spend other people’s money.
