Which Casino are you staying at? The one with the hotel downtown is fine...and there's quite a few good bars you can walk to from there on 3rd street. Lauberge is the newer/nicer casino but there's not much around it

You would be walking through 2-3 miles of extreme ghetto. Just uber from the hotel.
And that's worse than a regular ghetto.

"You'll have plenty of people taking care of you along the way if you're willing to walk up to them and talk some football"
That's exactly what we're looking for.
I believe it's the Ford Family Tailgate, that we were invited to, but we are always down to meet/chat with anyone friendly.

Mike the Tiger's cage is a good place to start. You'll be able to get pretty close

No but the majority of the patrons are from bad areas

Middling at best. However, the area between the casino and campus is like a demilitarized zone.

Where do opposing fans usually gather the night before a game? Looking for a place to hold 20-50 Cuse fans. I've emailed "walk on's" and "The Chimes" so far.
Walk-Ons and The Chimes are campus staples, but unless you rent event/banquet space they won't accept reservations. Other good food stops: Parrain's (close to the Marriott), Roux 61, K-Street Cafe, Overpass Merchant, Phil's Oyster Bar.

Looking at a map, it seems like a straight shot from the Casino hotel, to the stadium. Walkable?
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT walk to campus from downtown. Not only is it farther than you think, but also not safe.

walk is through tailgates?
If not walkable, is there someplace we should uber to, and start our day from there?
Tailgating happens all across campus. There's no one designated spot. I usually recommend to stay away from the Parade Ground due to the fact it's loaded with drunk frats that will probably try to pick fights. I would suggest having an Uber drop you off either at Parker Coliseum (where my crew tailgates) or somewhere on the west side of the stadium. Best bet is to just walk around, soak up the sights and sounds and smells and alcohol. You're group will be heckled, but then you'll usually be welcomed in for food, drink, and a good time. The area around the Indian Mounds is pretty interesting on game days as well.

Any "Must see's" or "Must do's" for gameday?
This one is easy. The hottest commodity will be to check out Mike VII and his habitat across from Death Valley. Then around 4pm (depending on what time the game will be set for) check out the Tiger Walk down Victory Hill, followed by The Golden Band from Tigerland's march down and playing of the Pregame Salute.
Best thing you and your group can do is make yourselves at home. Stop in, ask questions and have a great time.

I believe the downtown casino hotel. Thanks for the info!

Hope you have a great trip!! Love upstate NY.

It's pretty much on the edge of downtown. About a 5-10 minute walk to 3rd street where there's a lot of bars. It'd be a good place to hang out Friday night. The casino itself that's right there attracts a trashier clientele, but if you really want to go gamble its there

You guys are awesome. Thanks again for all the help.
(How the heck do you quote someone in a reply?!)
My group ranges in age from 30-almost 70 lol. Made up of folks that live in Syracuse, Texas, Alaska, DC ect. Just a bunch of people who've all randomly bummed into each other games, and decided to keep the party going.

Might seem strange coming from a complete stranger, but if you all get to town and have questions or want to hit up the tailgate, shoot me an e-mail... More than willing to help out.

Downtown also has Live after 5. Haven't been in a few years, but usually a local band playing and the streets are blocked off. This link will give some info.

Away from campus, I've always though the "Perkins Rd. Overpass" is probably your best bet at vareity and visiting multiple places with little hassle.
Within walking distance you have several different restaurants:
George's (a dive with Po-boys, burgers, fried seafood)
Parrain's (great casual seafood spot)
City Pork (smoked meat sandwiches)
Kalura St. Grill (a little more upscale southern cuisine)
The Overpass Merchant (Gastropub with limited but good menu and a nice outdoor patio to drink)
Digiulio Brothers (good neighborhood Italian spot. It's small though)
Schlitz and Giggles (NY style pizza. Not great, but a good spot to nurse a hangover)
Then, just a few mile up the road (Perkins) you have:
Acme Oyster House A NOLA chain, but a you can get oysters, fried seafood/po-boys and fish bowls of beer)
Galatoire's Bistro A spin-off of the old and famous Bourbon St. restaurant. A bit pricey, but a spot to get some Louisiana style food
A little further up Perkins is:
Juban's Similar to Galatoire's but better.
Burgersmith - Decent Louisiana burger spot with good local beer selection.
Phil's Oyster Bar - reboot of classic BR restaurant. Not as good as the original, but you can get oysters and fried seafood along with some Italian dishes
These places are all within a few miles of each other. The under the overpass spots are all walkable. The others are just a very quick drive.
