Heyyy, Holy cow I need to figure out how to use the search feature here. I had to go back about 38 pages to find this thread lol.
I know I owe you guys a recap, I'm still swamped trying to get caught back up at work. I did want to pop in though to thank everyone who chimed in here with suggestions, and pretty much every resident of Baton Rouge.
I've never met a group of nicer people. From the moment we arrived in BR, to the Dallas airport where I was approached by the last LSU fan, just nothing but great people.
"welcome to baton rouge, can we help you find anything?"
"do you have a tailgate for tomorrow? Come to ours!"
ect ect ect.
You guys really made the trip memorable, and I think I'll be disappointed at other venues from now on lol.
I'm just going to touch on a few things before I finish up at the office for the day.
Met a dude who (I don't want to give away his secrets) got us and another cuse fan into the stadium a few hours before kick. It was amazing being in there while it was empty.
Met someone from here at Live After Five. Pretty cool little event there! We headed to Tsunami afterwards, place was amazing.
Man, I should have had a map of campus, trying to find other cuse tailgates was near impossible because 1. I had no clue where I was going, and 2. When you get invited to every LSU tailgate you walk by, it takes a while to walk to the other side of campus.
Spent alot of our time with LSU fans up by the indian mounds. The folks up there were more than amazing.
I'll pop back later to add more, but thanks again everyone. You've made me a closet LSU fan for life. Hopefully we get another chance to head down there in my lifetime. I wont miss it.
If ya bumped into a drunk dude claiming to be from Alaska, that was me. Hope you enjoyed me! Go Orange!

Also, as I stumble around different tailgates meeting new best friends, is there a way to tell if it's a "tiger droppings" tailgate?
I don't want ask 50,000 people if they post on tigerdroppings lol.

If you've never been here and you're coming down with your girlfriend, here's a warning. SEC schools have the best looking women in the Country and Baton Rouge is right up at the top. If you want to avoid pissing off your girl, bring a good pair of sunglasses and practice moving your eyes while keeping your head still. Most times, "do you think she's prettier than me?" is a trick question. Here, unless she's a dumbass, she's gonna know you're lying, so you may as well tell the truth. Who knows, she might be into it!
*quick phone call to Alaska Airlines to cancel her ticket*
Ughh I'm screwed. I love the heck out of my girl (who's pretty decent on the eyes herself), but man, we don't get many great looking girls up here in Alaska, and they are all wearing 15 layers of clothes. My drunk lil head is going to be on a swivel.
We are probably going to have to have a conversation about this on the flight down

Not sure what time you will be getting into your casino hotel Friday afternoon, but on Fridays, the downtown has free outdoor concerts a couple of blocks from where you will be staying called Live After Five. I think the bands usually play from about 5 to around 7 or 8. Beer and vendor trucks set up nearby. Nice oyster bar nearby, Jolie Pearl. Decent sushi restaurant at the top of the building housing the Manship Theater and art museum called Tsunami. Nice rooftop bar up there where you can have a drink or two and watch the sun set over the Mississippi River. Can see TigerStadium from there and they light it up at night. Some good restaurants downtown like Stroube's, etc. Hotel people can give you some recommendations and directions.
This is my favorite Friday night idea so far. Outdoors, negates the issue of finding a place ready to take on 20-50 cuse fans. The lady and I never pass up a chance to do some dancing. Rooftop bar sounds like a perfect way to end the night.
A tiger fan that swung over to our board (syracusefan.com) recommended Lava Cantina for an Aerosmith coverband as well. Might head there after.

Man, You guys are amazing. I'll re-read this thread a few times before the trip, but some great info so far.
I think we might end up at the BR Marriott. Pretty sure we chose the casino because it was half the price. I figured since the flights were kinda pricey, and my alcohol bill wont be cheap (I have an enlarged liver, only way to treat it is to drown it in booze. But please don't treat me any differently, I'm still a person) we might as well cheap out on the BR hotel that we will only be using for the bed. Leaving that one up to the GF.
Either way, we'll uber to one of the many locations you've recommended. I have the "game day activities" printed out from the LSU website, we'll hit as many as we can.
So many great food recommendations.
If I get my nose broke because I told some dude I got my shoe up his arse, somebody's going to owe me a beer.
The girlfriend will be excited about the hot and humid weather. She absolutely hates being cold. Most of our trips from Alaska are winter trips to cold locations for Cuse basketball. She's due for a warm Cuse trip.
Reading through this thread has me even more excited than I already was. I've heard you guys were hospitable, but man, sounds like we are going to be alright!
I'll keep checking back to see if anything else is added, or if I have any other questions.
If you'd like, Once/if I make it back home, I'll post a little recap of our first LSU experience!

I have plenty of recommendations for bars/restaurants/sites in NOLA too if you want to talk about that
I didn't want to bother you guys with random NOLA tourist questions, but if you're down to throw out recommendations that would be appreciated.
My girlfriend and I have never been, but I think the rest of my group have been a few times.

Might seem strange coming from a complete stranger, but if you all get to town and have questions or want to hit up the tailgate, shoot me an e-mail... More than willing to help out.
Not strange at all, brotha. Appreciate it!
You guys are awesome. Thanks again for all the help.
(How the heck do you quote someone in a reply?!)
My group ranges in age from 30-almost 70 lol. Made up of folks that live in Syracuse, Texas, Alaska, DC ect. Just a bunch of people who've all randomly bummed into each other games, and decided to keep the party going.

I believe the downtown casino hotel. Thanks for the info!
"You'll have plenty of people taking care of you along the way if you're willing to walk up to them and talk some football"
That's exactly what we're looking for.
I believe it's the Ford Family Tailgate, that we were invited to, but we are always down to meet/chat with anyone friendly.

Is the casino itself in a bad area? I'm not sure why the gf picked that location, but we will move to the Marriott if we need to.
Ahh no doubt. Any set location we should direct the Uber driver to? We are trying to see as much of your game day festivities as possible
For Friday night, I'm assuming everyone would Uber/cab to where ever we end up meeting up.

Hey there, Tiger fans!
The girl and I are making the trip from Alaska for the SU-LSU game. Meeting up with a larger group in NOLA for a few days, then heading to Baton Rouge on Friday afternoon.
Where do opposing fans usually gather the night before a game? Looking for a place to hold 20-50 Cuse fans. I've emailed "walk on's" and "The Chimes" so far.
Most of my group is either staying at the BR Marriott, or some Casino close to the Marriott. Looking at a map, it seems like a straight shot from the Casino hotel, to the stadium. Walkable? If so, how much of that walk is through tailgates?
If not walkable, is there someplace we should uber to, and start our day from there?
Any "Must see's" or "Must do's" for gameday?
My group met some LSU fans at the dome when you guys came up, we've been invited to their tailgate. We plan to check that out before heading to a Cuse tailgate. (At the moment I have no locations on either lol)
I had a long list of questions for the board when I requested to join the site last week. Now it's 9am on a Monday, and I can't remember most of them. I'll add more if I think of them.
Heard nothing but great things about your fan base when you came to the dome, and hopefully you hear the same after we pack up and leave town.
Hoping to leave with a W, but guarantee I leave with a buzz!
Thanks in advance for any advice!
