Yes. That annoys me. Or when I go to a hospital but one doctor that area me is from Tulane or LSU and not LCMC so I get a separate change that isn't covered.
I had one tulane doctor come in, shake my hand and bill me for $400 without doing a damn thing.
Then the students... arghh.

I dint know. It went off tax returns.
I know people who are self employed that fudged income to get benefits. But I'm too scared of audits.

Yeah.... that didn't work out for me.
I am never sick. Never miss a day for sickness.
I always felt fine. I went on a few trips and caught food poisoning. Didn't deal with it.
It went away. A few months later I started to swell like that blueberry girl in willy Wonka. Hating doctors. I didn't go.
I just tried to work out. Then I noticed u had gained a lot of weight. My clothes weren't fitting and I was not eating.
I went to doctor. They sent me to ER.
I stayed in hospital 2 weeks. And my life has never been the same.
I have to sleep hooked up to a machine for 9 hours a day.
All because my stupid arse didn't get regular check ups. Let blood pressure get out of control. And destroyed my kidneys.
Never felt sick until it was too late.
Thought I was healthy so didn't concern myself I hadn't seen a doctor in ten years.
I had basic insurance that o never used. I only ever used the dental
Everyone should get yearly blood and urine tests. Your body can hide so much into is too late.
I knew I had some issues but I wasn't dying. Until I was.

Everybody needs to opt out of health insurance, everybody. Just pay out of pocket every time.
that MAY work based on premiums we are paying versus doctors visits. that will not fly with prescription meds for all. a member of my family had insurance that would not cover name brand meds anymore. only generic. the generic was shite and did not work the same. to get name brand it was costing 700 a month. and that was on top of the high monthly premium! no lawyers wanted to touch it and all appeals were denied. it shows they give zero fricks about you.
also nobody is paying OOP for major surgeries that will cost 50k to 100k.
Big pharma needs to be blown up.

Dow Chemical just dropped Medicare retiree group plans from its retirement benefit program for cost reduction purposes. Interesting point, I am buying solo policies from the same carrier as Dow had us group placed, and I will see a 120$/month reduction in cost for the exact same coverage. This would be considered a win/win situation except for having the stress of having to learn a whole lot more about how medicare works at age 78

I would ask your HR how often they shop plans, because insurance providers will jump through hoops to kick a legacy out.

Yeah. I needed a new Potassium binder. Sevelmar is like $5 for a month or $60 ,if no insurance for a month.
But the doctor tried switching to a chewable that is better. Doctor hyped it up said i would do much better. Writes script. No pharmacy can fill it. Then sits a month. Then I'm told I need to get it from this mail order pharmacy. I give them my info. Price comes back $1900 with insurance. $3500 without. For 1 month.
I said no thanks.
I'll keep on with the sevelmar and high potassium.

They are 100% free to you, very well informed as to available plans, and will eliminate that stress. I've twice had them locate plans that were not even listed on the exchange. In most cases, same-category plan coverages are identical (by law). So it's just a matter of choosing the type plan you need, and finding lowest cost.
It is a very good service.

You're getting company insurance! Try paying out of pocket

I'll be purchasing an ObamaCare policy in a week. I anticipate its cost being $25K to $30K. No subsidies. Life's not fair.
Posted on 10/23/26 at 11:49 am to LChama
Prior to Obamacare, you could get catastrophic care only policies that were cheap. After Obamacare, non-freeloaders had to pay very high prices for what is little more than an old catastrophic policy.
It sucks.
It sucks.

I dint think anyone(at least in Louisiana) is getting subsidies anymore. I knew a couple of people with aca plans and they shot up in March when the aca ended. One's plan went from like $170 to $800.
One thing I wish is that we knew that some companies are just shite. Like Ambetter. So many peele won't take it.
I wish I was still with blue cross it was everywhere. I am afraid to switch because of conditions but I'm told they can't deny. But then again. I'm about to hit my 30 month private insurance limit after diagnosis and be forced to Medicare. Even though I have 20 years to go before I should deal with Medicare.

The pharmacy I don't have an answer for. The surgeries, the ones that aren't needed anyway, just don't pay would be the only option.
The whole point would be to fold the medical complex and force solutions. I never said it wax a good idea, just AN idea.

A married couple under $80,000 in MAGI is still getting close to $1800/month in subsidies
