You obviously have to prep a speech in advance, likely with great deal of assistance, to have it ready. Imagine losing and having to stand there, congratulating the winner, and not give that speech that you’d worked on-awkward. As an aside, Marvin Harrison Jr can skip the speech prep.

Come on Chad. Imagine being awarded with the trophy that you worked for and being 22 years old and trying to thank everyone and understand it at the same time. Very disingenuous take man.

It’s a very honest take. I’d say it would be harder say for the parent giving the acceptance speech on behalf of their son would be way more emotional and tough.

Or the HOF. They have time to prepare, but some of the previous enshrinees set a very high bar. And add to that, it’s outside and hot as balls

Jayden will do a tremendous job, but these guys have plenty time to prepare and plenty help from speechwriters.

Joe's is the only Heisman speech I've ever heard, but it's hard to imagine anyone doing a better job.

It’s not like you really have to say much. Just say thanks to everyone and sit down. I’m sure someone who reaches the peak of their profession can do that just fine

True, but when you give thanks and gratitude genuinely to others and you seem them beam with pride in the audience...well it can get emotional...we see it often...thats what makes these speeches memorable...

Life is short...these moments only happen once...

I'm excited for Jayden...he deserves it.. and this award is life changing...special fraternity

I knew how hard it was as I watched JB give his acceptance speech. Cool as always and confidence exuded with every word.
Until he began to talk about his coach-Ed Orgeron. Joe could not contain himself nor remain cool as the memories came flooding back. Tough guy(truly a tough guy) Joe was crying and crying almost uncontrollably. That's when I knew how difficult it must be.

Plus, he ended up raising over a half-million dollars for the food bank in his hometown in Ohio just by mentioning seeing kids going hungry there.
