Exactly. University of Texas was his dream job. And Matt Moscona still says that Hermann would have still come to LSU even after Texas came calling on him. Moscona is delusional. When Texas entered the picture, there was no way LSU was getting him.

10 year contract demand broke the deal. I Don’t blame LSU one bit for saying NO to that.

In 2015 he didn't come because Alleva was stopped from canning Les.
In 2016, I think he was option #2 after Herman. I doubt Alleva trusted Sexton or Jumbo very much after getting played by Herman. Plus, Jumbo thought he had a loaded team coming back to FSU. That team was loaded but he shite the bed after Francois got injured. It is totally true that Jimbo had begun to alienate the AD and boosters FSU.

Regardless of what folks think, there weren't a lot of good alternatives after Herman in 2016. Fuentes didn't exactly set the world on fire at Va Tech last year. Fedora's UNC team was a train wreck. Frost was not yet a star and Fleck was probably not considered ready for prime time in the SEC.

O was an unpopular choice with the fans but he was the failsafe choice.
UF is a pretty great job and they settled for their 3 or 4th choice in McIlwain a few years ago and their 3rd or 4th choice this year in Mullen.

4 losses is the pinnacle of our current coach's head coaching career.

I wouldn't say there was no chance but it was slim. we will never know because our AD is bad at his job.

Herman was coming, Alleva ruined the deal by leaking the story against Herman and Houston’s wishes, and Alleva played footsy with Jimbo while telling Herman he was our guy. We made the first call to Herman the Monday after the Wisky loss we had him Alleva lost him. Its as simple as that Texas made no difference.

Maybe, but imho, once Trace Armstrong let Texas know that if they wanted Herman, they'd better make a move to fire Strong, Herman was not coming to LSU in any case. He had always said that Texas was his dream school, and he's from Texas. Armstrong was using LSU as leverage to get more money from Texas.

Actually, Trace Armstrong (Herman's agent) leaked the deal to Texas in order to push them to fire Strong. Texas was the job Herman wanted all along. The Texas job most definitely mattered.

literally every name you mentioned has a better track record than O.

not only was he not a “failsafe”, he was actually the biggest gamble of all of them.

By the time he decided on Texas he was already done with LSU. Maybe Armstrong did but Alleva violated agreement with Herman and Houston by letting rumors out that we were in talks with Herman. The week prior to the Florida game discussions had already fallen apart.

Just looking at what he's doing recruiting wise at A&M

He recruited well at FSU, too. It didn't save him from being 10-10 in his last 20 ACC games. It didn't save him from giving up 63 to Louisville in the same year that Orgeron and Ensminger crushed Louisville. It did save him from getting his arse whipped by Bama this past year.

He was looking for a contract similar to what he got at A&M. LSU thought they could have him (had him) for much less.
This isn’t true. It was 7 years and thinking about it, was a steal considering what we have to pay for an OC.

He didn't come here because of cry babies like you. Second guessing from punks is not attractive for prospective coaches and maybe Jimbo likes gay yell leaders. Maybe you should "support" the faggies

We would have looked like even bigger dumbasses than A&M if we would have fired miles and then paid Fisher 75 million guaranteed over 10 years. Desperation is not a good look especially when it drives you to make a foolish deal
