Not the question.

Texas is a good pick but they've had a few guys I'd consider better passers than some of the shite we've thrown out there

Like who? They have sucked since 09.

We have the mettenberger outlier. What's the difference after that?
plus newton was a transfer just like mettenberger. If mettenberger doesn't count because of one year at UGA and what must have been some stellar QB development at a community college ( ) then Newton for sure doesn't count for Auburn.

It's the offense we're running, it's predicated on running the ball and low percentage long passing routes. It's pretty easy to defend as a defense when you only have to cover less than 50% if he field on passing routes. Even worse most routes are run close to the sidelines so in effect the defense has 2 extra defenders.

Because nick Marshall was good and your post said Cam only. Just admit you forgot about him and not intentionally left him off

The obvious spin-off to this is programs who seem to plug and play good QBs over a period of time. I'm always jealous when I see teams continue to win big with second and third-stringers, freshmen, first-year guys, etc. Frustrating.

That's why Les is 8-3 against them. They can't develop a qb up there either.

Well seems like a lot of teams have been mentioned that have had bad qb play. I'm thinking you weren't expecting that and thought it was just LSU.

Auburn other than Cam Newton

pretty sure they made it to the title game with Nick Marshall, who was quite productive that year.

He was alright. Good runner. Was also a transfer. I think he was good for that system. Wouldn't go touting him as some great qb.

Ok, a JC transfer and one other qb. Not exactly a glowing track record.

LSU made it with JJ and Lee. And if combine their stats, they were quite productive that year outside of the title game.

Just like Marshall blew against LSU in 13.

I get pissed off when I watch the ESPN Tuesday night MAC game and both teams have more competent passing games than LSU has had in years. Or when teams have a more competent passing game with their 2nd string QB. I'm not asking for Baylor or TCU. All I want is reasonably competent. That's all we need.

Neither produced on Marshall's level. If JJ produced on his level we would have won the NC.

Florida state had a pretty bad run for a while there.

Nah. Drew Weatherford was the worst it got and he got replaced by Xavier Lee, who then decided to play baseball instead. Then they went straight Ponder.

Chris Rix was solid. Ended up second or third in passing yards. And he was a gamer.

Marshall was also a converted defensive back. And played better QB by the time he was done than what we have now. :-/

USC - I don't think Kessler is elite, Leinart maybe

Who said anything about elite quarterbacks?

USC has been one of the most consistent programs nationally when it comes to quarterback production. Since Leinart left, USC has only had one mediocre season in terms of passing numbers and that came with a freshman who still posted better numbers than nearly every LSU quarterback since Flynn.

'15 Kessler 3128 Yds 68.4 CMP% 27 TD 6 INT
'14 Kessler 3826 Yds 69.7 CMP% 39 TD 5 INT
'13 Kessler 2968 Yds 65.4 CMP% 20 TD 7 INT
'12 Barkley 3273 Yds 63.6 CMP% 36 TD 15 INT
'11 Barkley 3528 Yds 69.1 CMP% 39 TD 7 INT
'10 Barkley 2791 Yds 62.6 CMP% 26 TD 12 INT
'09 Barkley 2735 Yds 59.9 CMP% 15 TD 14 INT
'08 Sanchez 3207 Yds 65.8 CMP% 34 TD 10 INT
'07 Booty 2361 Yds 63.2 CMP% 23 TD 10 INT
'06 Booty 3347 Yds 61.7 CMP% 29 TD 9 INT

I would take pretty much any USC QB over what we've had.

It's a bit unfair to compare the two teams, since one plays in the SEC and the other in the Pac-12, but USC has been better than LSU in every year but '13 since 2009.

If LSU had USC's passing attack, Miles would probably have a second and possibly third national championship, IMO.
