House is not an “instant commodity”.

He’s been successful everywhere he’s gone.

I think it’s a realistic perspective but it’s one that makes fans nervous being brought up during a critical time in recruiting. Glad we have him for as long as we do, I’d like to think we have him for at least two seasons to thoroughly rebuild our defense.

It took Aranda years of elite output at Wisconsin and LSU to get a serious look/offer from UNLV. House’s defenses prior to this season have been average apart from 2018.

My only concern would be if he were offered a job at his alma mater, Michigan State.

I doubt it. I’ve been happy with him and the progress the team has made but we are a borderline top 30-35 defense. It’s not like we are elite on that side of the field. Still rebuilding.

Next year I’d we are close to a top 10 defense then I could see it.

It is what it is. If there’s one thing Brian Kelly has proven over his career, it’s that he knows how to hire good assistants.

For the 40 years I’ve followed LSU some fans bemoaned the “realistic” possibility that the coach (usually the head coach) would leave. Its fricking pathetic. Some of you just can’t enjoy the moment.

Yeah, I learned my lesson over the hand wringing that Notre Dame would come and poach Dinardo.

So will potential COTY Brian Kelly.

And remember...
- we will never pull from the NFL, they give but don't take (re: House)
- No way CBK will ever leave ND
- sooner or later these ADs will learn their lesson about "hot names"

Yes, it is inevitable all coaches leave. But House left the NFL for a reason; to become a journeyman one year after leaving the NFL would be sort of crazy unless money is the one, and only, reason.

I try not to stress about things that haven't happened yet. But I know this much, if House does gets poached, CBK will actually interview his replacement before hiring him.

Very true. I seriously hope we can keep him for at least one more year.

He's found a way to keep the defense competitive despite all the injuries. However, I think we find a way to keep him.

They said the same thing about the chief and many other DC’s that came through here. Many of them just wanted to be defensive coordinators, they did not want and never accepted head coaching jobs. When they did leave LSU, they left for another DC job not a head coaching job.

Having great coaches that other teams are after is not a negative

He'll become a Millionaire before he leaves.
Hopefully, we get a Natty (or two) and CBK turns over the reigns to CMH. (Hopefully)

At least we have a head coach that can find another replacement, that I'm confident as opposed to prior coaches

You need more than 1 good season as DC of a major program (yes I know he was at Kentucky but not a football school)
That's all the more reason to consider him, My Man.

Correct - everyone is downvoting my post (which I knew they would). Without Perkins LSU loses to Bama & Arky & people think anyone would care about House. It’s bizarre. (Not saying he’s not a good coach).
You seem positively gleeful that your post has gotten responses.

i agree here.. kelly is in charge, just look at his DC's at Notre Dame and everywhere else... he knows his shite.. and people will want to come here because of stability now.. resources were always here...

House aint leaving for two more years. he will get Aranda money this spring..
