You don't panic-overpay for one season. That's how you get the Jimbo situation. Aggy went 9-1 in an anomaly year, give him 100 million! Sustained success is what should be locked up. If someone wants to pay him to promote him, you have to be disciplined enough to let them.
Just to drive the point home, go check the threads last year on here begging whoever the new coach was to keep Daronte Jones.

Given what we have lined up to come back, I think he'll stick around for a year or two. He could probably go get a HC job now, but he'll be able to pick his spot in a few seasons.
