He’s regressed a lot. A lot early on was offensive line woes. Seems a lot of the offensive line issues got better and he got way, way worse.

First there has to be a pocket. Our OL couldn't block the Little Sisters of the Poor.

But the O line was actually decent last night.

There were probably a dozen plays where he had 3-4 seconds of clean pocket and hit waited and waited holding the ball forever.

There only so much the line can do. If he has that much time, the only response to get pressured, hit or sacked is because he made a decision not to throw to a receiver or throw it away.

The 4th down pass that could have put us up in the 4th quarter was a fairly clean pocket. He just missed.

Same with the bad throw to Bech

How about when both safeties in cover 2 jump the gun and show blitz not once, but TWICE before the snap and you still throw the ball to empty space? He just doesn't see it.

If he were playing against the FLA secondary last night he would have had open receivers. Our WRs are C+ and Bama has a good defense. Brian Thomas is our most dangerous WR with Boutte out and he has, what, 10 total catches in his career? Bech can get favorable match-ups and is a weapon, no doubt, but the idea that we can’t complete 5 screens to RBs or hit them in the flat on the move is absurd.

I’m not a Max Johnson fan but it’s seems common sense has him rolling to his left being he is left handed .. not saying that you shouldn’t roll him right some of the time but you need a back or receiver as a safety valve underneath for a short pass of 5-7 yards.. running full speed in pursuit to your right and being left handed trying to throw 20-30 yards downfield while being chased by 300 pound defensive linemen doesn’t make much sense to me.. you always cater to your QB’s strengths not his weaknesses…

Max hasn't regressed. He won two games last year against teams with woeful defenses, and his stats v Florida last year weren't stellar. He just played well within his capabilities, which are quite limited.

This year teams seem to be more focused on his limitations, and though his stats look about the same as last year, he's had a number of untimely fumbles, interceptions and sacks.

There is no way that people that say stuff like this actually watched the game.

No
He has lacked the talent to be an upper level QB since high school
Only dumbass homers and our idiot coaches couldn’t see it

What you’re seeing is the WR group missing Boutte. Max leaned heavily on him early on. Since Boutte has been sidelined, Max has looked completely lost.

Nabers was limited last night too. That didn’t help.

Needs development and a new offensive coordinator.

Running all verticals on just about every passing play is silly. WR are not responding to blitzing safeties and LB. There are few short and intermediate routes.

Hard for a 2nd string QB with 2nd string WR and an average OL and a 3rd tier offensive coordinator to recreate 2019. Coaches need to respond and adjust for talent.

Max isn’t nor never has been the answer. He will not be LSU’s starting qb next year with new coaches. NO WAY

Two biggest spots in that game were the 4th down inside the 5 and the 4th down late in the game.

Overthrew both receivers cause he threw both off back foot falling away. Didn't even give receivers a chance

He came in vs the 85th and 119th ranked defenses and won 2 games with the defense creating 9 turnovers and scoring multiple TDs last year. Opposing DCs had an entire summer to scout him and now that they’ve taken away the few throws he makes well he’s been exposed. If he were a competitive level QB right now he would’ve adjusted and made the corrections to how he’s being defended. He’s only a sophomore and he maybe a good QB in time but right now he’s a backup level QB.

Max will have a real QB coach next year, I believe with the right coaches Max can be a good SEC QB.
