Personally, I think we should bring these bad boys back for a bowl game:

Merry Christmas from Mississippi Valley State University.

In the '80s, the Valley wore a brighter green with white helmets............it was stunning.

People equated LSU's losing slump with wearing purple jerseys at home (without the option to wear white).

THIS GUY!! That and the Three Stooges (Coaches who must not be named!) that caused that horrible decade. Why must you youngsters always want to mess with the most beautiful uniform ever created??

The purple jerseys not being part of LSU tradition was as big an issue in the late 80's/early 90's as fans leaving the game early is today. I promise.

And yes, a lot of people equated that with losing

I know people didn't like that we could not wear white at home because it was tradition (I was a student from 87-92). People also equate home day games with losing, yet during the early 90's we rarely played day games and our last 2 home loses were both at night, while we went undefeated at home in 2011 day games. They didn't like the purple jersey's or more specifically not being able to wear white at home even in the years when we were winning in the late 80's.

I agree.

I am all for tradition and wearing white at home MOST OF THE TIME but I like a little variety hear and there. They should wear the purple more often.

Starting in the 80s through to the present, LSU wore purple jerseys for these 3 bowls:
Orange Bowl after '82 season
Sugar Bowl after '84 season
Peach Bowl after 2000 season
