Met him. Quiet, humble, thankful when I reminded him how great he was and what he did for LSU.

In ‘87 I played in a b-ball tournament. All we were hearing was this guy from Gulfport was unbelievable. Sat front row and watched him embarrass one of the top teams in the state. He’s one of the best to ever play. NBA hosed him, considering it’s exactly what they stand for today.

Looks like they trying to blame his lackluster NBA career over the stading for the anthemn controversy. Fact is he was very inconsistent in the NBA
You’re letting your feelings get in the way of the facts and reality. He had a 10 year career, including multiple years where he averaged 19 points and over 5 assists per game. That’s really good and certainly not inconsistent. Trying doing a bit of research first buddy.

Lies! Not factual at all… he was very efficient when on the court.

Not making light of his condition, just reminded me of this scene. CJ was amazing to watch play. Dude was lights out at LSU. Glad I got to witness in person.

An absolutely loaded roster, and we couldn't even with the SEC and bowed out early in the NCAA Tourney.
We lost to a Georgia Tech team led by Kenny Anderson and Dennis Scott in the round of 32. Georgia Tech ended up getting to the Final Four and losing to eventual champ UNLV. I'm not sure UNLV was going to lose in that tournament. However, LSU did beat them earlier in the year. That UNLV team had Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon and Greg Anthony.

He got blackballed from the NBA. There is really no disputing that. If he wouldn't have I think he would have had a 20 year NBA career. He was a guy that kept himself in shape and could shoot 3's with the best of them. He was just before his time in regards to the game and the social aspect of things.

I think your incorrect on that. Shaq 89-90 averaged 5.6 for a .563 % He was a mediocre scorer with no outside shot and horrific free throw shooter.

No, and I won’t.

And crossover dribbles. Crazy quickness, crazy accuracy, excellent athleticism….off the chart good. The only thing that kept him from being one of the all-time NBA greatest was his size. If he was 6-2 instead of 5’10 he would be in HOF.

People can say what they want about the Muslim religion but American Muslim groups have done wonders for young black men, in CJs case mixed raced men. He really struggled with his disability and not having a father and religion focused and matured this man. He had a good career and is now teaching young men basketball and life lessons. Idc what religion did it but he benefited from his beliefs.

quote:Everyone deserves that opportunity to find their path in life. If I remember correctly, he was raised baptist and was religious then too. Trying to find his identity and purpose isn't a bad thing. It's not like he's a jihadist blowing up shite. I'm not a religious guy, I struggle with the catholicism in which I was raised. People need to have a better understanding of their own religion if they're going to point blank pass judgment on others. I don't usually get involved in these discussions, and for good measure, but from what I know, it's more of a their problem than a CJ/Mahmoud problem.
