Nailed it. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a move for Schroyer to replace him when he retires but for now it's working as a way for him to deal with Wade exclusively.

I can understand fearing Wade a bit….he’s so immensely popular with the fans and boosters, he’s directly tied to the ouster of two ADs and a school president

Lot of potential to circumvent your “boss” when you have that going. That’s why Scott really ousted him, Wade wasn’t falling in line, Scott used a report of known information to oust him , and bring in someone loyal to him…lot of good that did him

In my conversations with Verge he has never been opposed to Wade returning.

Just to clear that up.

Moscona is a long running joke that’s intentionally fed false information.

He doesn’t have the power needed to NOT hire him. That’s where we are.

this is real simple....right now Lee Mallet is calling the mother fricking shots, has been since BK got fired. Verge can either hire wade and fall in line or he can get the frick out, just like Scott.

Verge was in the trenches when he saw Wade outmaneuver Alleva. He doesn't want to deal with him. That's why LSU went out and got Wade a personal AD.

Like it or not, Verge was shown he's not in control.

I do wonder how Kiffin views all of this.

False. Just like any position, there are powerful AD and rubber stamp ADs. Skip was a powerful AD. Unfortunately, Alleva was a powerful AD. There are powerful governors and weak governors. We currently have a governor who exerts a tremendous amount of influent over the happenings at LSU. Verge is a rubber stamp and everyone sees the writing on the wall of who will be LSU next AD.

False.

It is not. Any LSU employee making over 250K cannot be hired or fired without BOS approval.

There are AD's who earn the trust of their governing board and/or boss, depending on the specific structure. Often, popularity amongst the boosters and general fanbases will give someone additional latitude, as well. Due to the perceived failures of Woodward, that will not likely happen at LSU anytime soon.

Skip was a powerful AD.

Skip earned it and had both the boosters and fan bases behind him, which gave him latitude.

Unfortunately, Alleva was a powerful AD.

That was more of a function of the school president at the time; he had his hands tied at least once, perhaps more, first with Miles in 2015, and maybe again with the first incident with Wade (I have read some accounts that he wanted to fire Wade and others that said that he wanted to keep him, I am unsure which is true).

The office in Louisiana is a powerful one. The occupant may or may not be at any given time.

As can any governor, I am not sure if that is good or bad, but it is what it is.

quote:

Verge is a rubber stamp

Verge will do what he is told to do by the board and the president, but he is not afraid to give his opinion, even if it is counter to what is asked and what he ultimately does, nor is he likely to publicly state that he opposes the decision. I can see how you might think that is rubber-stamping, I do not.

I would say that is an accurate statement.
