So say 1 team stops their opponent rushing 9 downs for 0 yards then on 1 play someone misses a tackle and they score on a 100 yard rush. compared to scenario 2 where the opponent runs 10 yards every time they hand it off. They have the same ypc but one team is obviously better at stopping the run and one is more likely to get blown out. The way to see that is to watch the game, not look at stat sheets.

Given the strength of homestanding Texas, the big, big UT crowd, the HEAT, the holding not called versus Chaisson, and all the other stuff, I’m very happy with the whole package

even the 31 pts allowed in the 2nd half?

Texas was Top 10 ranked, legit. Not over-rated... maybe under-rated. Major skill players, well coached, home standing, big crowd,HEAT, etc. As CEO said after this game was a war. LSU came out on top in the end. So yes, I’m good with it all.

currently #32 against the run, being the only team out there with a Top 10 win

A top 10 win and a win over a triple option team

Nope. We played a read and react contain to stop ehlinger from hurting us with his mobility. We challenged him to beat us with his arm.. and Shazam when he had 6 or 7 seconds to throw he killed us. We picked our poison. I wonder what would have happened had we all out rushed and blitzed him.

We expected ehlinger to make some mistakes. He did not make many.

This has been a repetitive script for us.

The read and react possibly allowed the yards after contact by the Texas running backs.

We had untypical pretty bad tackling for a usually good tackling LSU defense.

it's a passing play when the quaterback is looking to pass the ball

Really? So no QB run because the line breaks down counts then?

Why didnt you watch the first game of the season against a triple option team?

If you watched the game, we could not stop their run, they made about 5 yards every rush

Not on the goal line when it mattered they didn't. I must have watched a different game, I don't recall a lot of sacks or Texas gashing our defense with the run on a contiued basis.

maybe a couple turnovers and a few more punts is my guess...and a 3-4 td victory

or maybe you wern't paying attention. That goal line stand was awesome but nobody says games are won in the 1st quarter.

Almost all their big plays came when we blitzed.

We blitzed on 4 & 2 and they got a td.

We blitz on that 2 & 24 that ehlinger ran for like 15 yards.

Granted, we had a few big plays and sacks when we blitzed as well, but the narrative that we needed to blitz more really needs to die.

why, we rushed 4 for most of the second half and they scored on every drive.

Ehlinger 3.2 ypc
Johnson 4.6 ypc
Ingram 2.9 ypc
Duvernay 0.0 ypc

Or maybe you weren't paying attention. Texas had one sack according to the game stats and couldn't get two yards on the goal line despite having 8 tries.
