He doesn’t need to throw House under the bus, we all know he was incompetent. The best example was refusing to spy Milroe in Tuscaloosa.

The spy role is also something that you can’t really game plan against.

That’s easy to plan against. If you know someone is in the spy role it simplifies the coverages and makes game planning easier for the offense. The reason you do it is because the deadly running QBs usually can’t take advantage of the simplified zones because they are one-read-and-run guys. The reason Daniels didn’t see a lot of spies is because he is a real QB who can also run.

but since 2001 House has had 13 jobs

That is a lot. Which his personality is probably a major factor in why he has had that many jobs in that time frame. Just such a disappointment considering how the defense played at times in 2022. Really thought the defensive future looked bright.

Harold Perkins will go down as one of my all time favorite tigers. Dude is full on LSU. I remember seeing him after one game his freshman year staying after the game on the field and interacting with fans and signing stuff and stayed outside doing the same. He could have bolted two times and he never did. Never complained and never threw my coaches under the bus. He’s going to blow up this year so we better enjoy seeing him on that field one more year.

He didn’t give much effort and you did not see the explosiveness on constant display.

I doubt that he "didn't care", or had given up... it is far more likely that the scheme was too complex and he had to think, rather than read and react. If you hesitate to think, you are already beat.

I hinted at that one time but said it a bit differently. What might work is to wait until the center calls blocking schemes...evident when the center starts pointing across the LOS. After he finishes that process, you probably have at least a few seconds for Perkins to move/aka put him in motion.

The position that Perk will be playing this year he won't have to move very far to get to a spot that he can rush the passer. He is also lined up at a spot that he can blitz directly from that spot and still get there. An example would be a combo blitz and stunt where the weakside end slams inside the tackle and Perk comes screaming off the edge from some depth. I'd assume you'll see a lot of that.

That's called a delayed blitz and happens all the time in college football.

House had zero clue how to use Perkins. I screamed for him to delay blitz Perkins up the a gap all last yr.

You can even delay blitz him off the edge once the o line declares. This is what good dcs do. House was not one

House isn’t a dumbass. He knows football and he knows X’s and O’s you don’t get to where he’s been without it. But it takes more than that to be a good college coach. It’s a tough job. You’re teaching a lot of these guys from basically scratch.

So what you're saying is that House would make a better defensive analyst than coach?
