Would’ve had 5-yard pick6 as well in the FSU game.. can’t remember who from lsu knocked it away (while also going for the pick)
I think about that play a lot and what could’ve been

Because the rest of the D is so bad his production was overshadowed, this year , also it seems that his production was more spectacular in nature last year. It just might be my imagination because he was a frosh last year and I knew his was good but i didn't know he was that good!

The stats are similar but he’s definitely a better overall player than he was last season.

Harold Perkins didn’t really start playing a lot until the Ole Miss game last year. That was game 8 on the schedule

Now add snaps played. He hardly played the beginning of last season.

And he hardly did anything the last 3 games of 2022 once they figured out how to scheme for him. he is a better all around player now and can impact the game from multiple positions.

The stats are identical but that doesn’t negate the fact that we schemed him incorrectly for almost the entire season

Yea, he’s covering more

2022 (130snaps) 51.5 Grade

2023 (257snaps) 84.1 Grade

Perkins is the best coverage LB in the SEC and maybe in the nation. Yea, it’s not as tangible to fans as sacks are but dude is making a ton of money for the future by showing his versatility in this way.

His money position is WLB and I hope our DC puts him there next season.

People will scoff at this, but the role he’s in now has made Perkins an every down player, which he wasn’t last year. They got away with playing him more in a few games late in the season until A&M figured out how to really make us pay for it and ran all over him.

The problem we have is that House has proven he isn’t creative enough to take full advantage of Perkins in this role. Go back and look at what Dave Aranda did with Jacoby Stevens, making a similar guy with no true position into a Box Safety while minimizing his weaknesses. Perkins is better in coverage and is a better pass rusher. Tell me Aranda wouldn’t wreak havoc with an even better version of Stevens at his disposal.

A more creative DC with an attacking scheme would do a lot better with Perkins in the role he’s in now. He will have to play some in coverage because modern football demands that, but he would also be used to blitz and spy a lot more than we’ve seen.

Unless he gets a lot better at shedding blocks at his size, I don’t see how he will ever be as good in that role.

He’s athletic but he’s not a good football player yet.

He needs to learn scheme and how to read offenses or he won’t do shite in the NFL.

Weeks is a good football player, and the drastic difference is obvious.

I think his stats could have been even better if they had used him the way that they did last season because you would have seen a much more experienced player dominating out there. But in using him in the way that they did this season he was still able to put up similar stats to last season which is crazy to me and shows his elite athleticism. Smh
