This really goes out the window after UGA. Auburn tried it and it took hissy fit from the head coach to Floyd off his game to win. MSU didn't win because they did it and only a few coaches have the cards to play to do it in a super.

In a super regional, you can almost bank on an opponent pitching backwards to avoid losing to Skenes with their #1

dunno about that. Much easier to play that game then to go down 1-0 with the season on the line.

Reminds me of Ricky Blanton. Teams stopped focusing on CJ and let him get his 40. They just started shutting down lanes to RB and presto, success.

And odds are they will be hosting their own regional not coming to LSU’s

UGA needs a sweep to keep their postseason hopes alive. That may play into their strategy.

At this point you're gonna have to play cat and mouse. I would even start this weekend at UGA.

I’m going to need someone to explain to me like I’m 5 that the starting pitchers for game 2 and 3 for the other team was the reason LSU lost the series.

I think you could argue that MSU's No.1 starter in game two was able to keep the game close enough (despite a great night by Floyd) to allow LSU's bullpen to IMMEDIATELY (as in first batter faced) blow the lead. Had they gone with a different pitcher maybe it is 5-1 or 6-1 LSU after 6 instead of 2-1, thus giving LSU's bullpen a little more room for error in the final 3 innings.

You're right about Sunday. MSU's starting pitcher wasn't a difference maker.

Main problem now is our bullpen and #3 day starters get shelled or can't hit the side of a barn.

Bingo we have a winner.

The bullpen is atrocious

If thats the case we should announce Skenes starting G1 and scratch him in pregame warm-ups. Its the damndest thing.. back tightened up. Cant be too careful.

Sounds like something Auburn would do

Skenes/Friday pitching- 46 runs
Saturday pitching - 81 runs
Sunday pitching - 86 runs

These are the runs given up all year by LSU pitching. As you see when anyone else but Skenes pitches LSU pitching struggles in 3 games series after Skenes pitches.

Kip Boughknight was the USC Pitcher. We tattooed his arse in the Box early that year as I recall.

Cooper

if Cooper is considered one of our better relievers, we’re in an undesirable place. He’s good for at least two runs every time he takes the mound.

I’m not sure I could sleep at night knowing I lost a best 2 out of 3 series where my number 2 starter didn’t start a game.

That’s because you don’t understand the circumstance. It doesn’t matter what order the games are played.

Easiest way to beat LSU twice is not by beating the best pitcher in America.

I don't really think the starting pitchers for the other team are that much of a consideration. I think other teams know they cab destroy everyone we have after skenes. And maybe floyd.

Didn’t take a genius to figure that out. Any 2 of 3 series it’s a no brainer.

It doesn’t matter. LSU can’t win a tournament with one solid pitcher and a bad BP.

What we’ve seen the last two weeks is exactly how any three game or tournament format situation will end.

If a team does it, scratch it at last minute and pitch Floyd day 1 against their #3 followed by Skenes on day 2 against their #1. Done!
