I don't see how LSU can keep up with this not even with booster support. Firstly, it's not sustainable for boosters so let's get that out of the way. We have some deep pockets but not anywhere near some other universities. They're not going to dish 13 million out annually just for a football roster. Imagine keeping the basketball/baseball rosters together too and all the other sports. You can get that out of your head.
Secondly, LSU economically has many things working against it like the state of Louisiana. It's not an economic paradise and there isn't a lot of opportunity. This is simple facts. It makes raking NIL deals even harder in a low population, limited market, bad economy state.
Lastly, the only way this would ever be sustainable for LSU is if they pulled funds from their athletic budgets annually for all sports. This is of course illegal but this is where LSU can beat most universities. We're one of the more profitable universities athletic wise(or have been in the past) so we can funnel that money somewhere and write it off as something else to get NIL deals going with no trails back to the university.
In other words, they just need to get creative but don't think the boosters are going to dump 13 million annually solely on a football roster. It's not happening. I think we'll be okay we just have to figure out where and how to funnel the money. That's why we've been slow on top of legislature slowing LSU down. Anyone who thinks this has always been going around is stupid. It has to a certain degree but nowhere near this money with so many hands out due to being such a public symbol now.

It was a good listen yesterday. The way he was talking at first, it sounded like he was hinting that he knew of a particular one (LSU related) but couldn't say. And then he talked more general outside of LSU.
His breakdown of next year's roster was good as well. He said (his best guess) is that only 13-14 of the current roster will be back next year. He talked like Floyd was a sure thing to be back.

True. I tiny fraction.

Yep, and the current unregulated NIL model is not sustainable.

3 year/$300,000 deals for a sport that makes $500,000? Elle’s wife must be in charge of the checkbook.
It's not the school paying the NIL money, so how much the sport makes is irrelevant. None of these guys giving NIL deals are actually seeing profitable returns. They are doing it because it gives them more access to the program and because they love the sport.
With this thinking, no college athlete besides football and basketball players would get an NIL deal.

LSU baseball is A&M football right now in terms of NIL so no they aren’t going to get Dylan crews or anyone else from LSU

If it keeps some of these studs in college baseball instead of going to the boring minor leagues then I will take it (even if they don't come here).

Berry is considered the 8th best prospect in the draft. He won’t make it past pick 20 this year.

He's in the conversation for 1/1 as an underslot pick.

Why? Why shouldn't Dylan Crews be able to make money right now?
As good as he is on the baseball field you can’t honestly say Dylan Crews is worth $500,000 to any company for advertising purposes.
It’s not about letting athletes make money while playing. It’s about schools indirectly buying players.

The point he's making is it's not sustainable for anyone. The business giving NIL, boosters funneling money for NIL, or the university somehow illegally pushing athletic funds towards NIL. It's absolutely ridiculous the money being slung out for a sport that can't even top 1 million a year.
All it takes is for a university like TAMU to go full retard and say we're buying a championship which is what they're doing in football. I'm sorry to say but the way this is moving LSU is outclassed if it stays like this. It's a combination of many things and it's not like LSU is a haven for Hollywood to draw marketing from business nationwide for their athletes in NIL deals.

So...what is your point?
Women's sports already get way more money than they should get. You want to talk about disproportionate? I tell you what is disproportionate and that is the amount of money spent on women's sports compared to the amount of money it brings in when you compare it to men's sports.

AA and even AAA don't pay this kind of money. No way that's true. Not to mention nobody on our team aside from Crews is worth that much

Agree. No way Berry returns.
Doughty?? Now that is a guy that could at least be targeted with a big NIL deal.

It’s not university money
It’s also not your money
You just have to be the fly in the ointment don’t you

I grew up in south Florida , to me there was football but not the hometown feel you get in midland tx.
Don’t overlook the home town spirit
At Louisiana Schools, it’s so different in Louisiana, why I became a fan
