Jay Clark turned down the Arkansas HC job to remain at LSU. He is expected to take over after DD retires (no time table on that)

Arkansas announced the hiring of Jordyn Wieber today!

Not a good hire by them. Then again I don’t know who else turned them down.

The only thing she brings is a big name. I have seen her run camps and coach in person before, her coaching is suspect to be nice. All I will say is she won’t have the luxury to work with Olympian’s and national team memebers like she did at UCLA!

That's awesome news. Sets this program up for long term success. Great job by the AD staff to lock Jay up for the long haul.

He just received a raise and LSU has 3 monster classes lined up coming in.

What happen with Ashleigh? Did she agree to stay on and coach longer or was this a statement about how good she looks... Because both of very plausible.

If it were not for Jay Clark and Moore, LSU's Gymnastic Program would not have elevated, as it did since their arrival at LSU.

D.D. has certainly persevered and her 40+ years tenure is a testimony to that. The program has grown and the new facility is another testimonial to D.D.'s tenure. But, it is time for a change of leadership.

2-3 more years of DDB is just not in the LSU Gymnastic Program's best interests. But maybe DDB wants to win a national championship before retiring? This year and last were great opportunities for this accomplishment.

I believe our AD will do the right thing...........

Thank you for staying, Jay! You are so appreciated by the LSU fanbase, and we would have certainly hated to see you go. I know the program will be in great hands for years and years to come! Your work and efforts to help take this program to the heights it’s never been have not gone unnoticed.

Choupiqueboy, have fun with that, I agree 100%, DD had 43 years and while I also give her credit for perseverance she only won SEC after UGA and Alabama coaches retired after multiple 14 nattys and 36 Sec..again DD has stayed around for the facilities etc. but time for new blood..no one “deserves” to win a Natty..you earn it..DD has not in 43 years. Ready for the downvotes...but that’s why they call this the rant..

This is a slam dunk. He's going to be an outstanding coach for LSU once DD calls it quits. And in a sport that is showing signs of being a legitimate asset to the bottom line. (Although, I don't know any specifics. If someone does know the revenue/costs, I'd be interested to hear it.)

Baw

You lost me on the bob Moore comment. He has been here for 2 decades.

Jay IMO is probably the best assistant coach out there due to being a great bar coach’s and great recruiter. As a head coach, he was handed a corvette (Georgia program ran by Yoculan) coming off two straight national titles and crashed it.

Danna Durante (Sami’s mom) had a lot more success at Georgia as hc then he did. 3 super six appearances while Jay didn’t even make one!

Not saying jay won’t do great if he takes over but your argument makes zero sense

LSU has a perfect system running right now. Not sure you want to just start firing people now.

In this sport, only 6 teams have ever won a national title! Only 4 teams won a national title from the 1980s to 2013

I'm not saying I disagree, but are you aware he was once Georgia's head coach? He took over that program and it tanked and still hasn't recovered.

Calling him a slam dunk is certainly questionable.

He has done a heck of a job at LSU in his role. But some people just aren't great when they become the leader. Not sure what to think here.
