Had he been savvy, he would’ve gotten Mulkey here at the same pay rate or slightly more than what she was pulling at Baylor.
That's what happened

At a certain point, there is bound to be a financial limit to the various buyouts—because of realities or perception issues. Whether or not LSU is actually footing the bill, that could affect the program.
Buyout costs are a drop in the bucket to the lost revenue from a poor performing program.
TV deal is about to drop a dump truck of money on the LSU program on a yearly basis to the tune of 68 mil. If there is a point where buyouts effect this program, we are light years away from reaching that point

Stupid why bother reading? Woodward is 10 times smarter than Dildeau and makes 10 times more money. Woodward knows what’s up with LSU football and I’ll trust him.

ffs. you people worried about other people's money.
So tired of this take. LSU does not have unlimited funds. Nothing like UGA, Bama or aTm. It affects the program, spending that kind of money. You can only milk that cow so many times. Just because it wasn't my arm doesn't mean Myles Brennan's injury didn't hurt the team.

Tell us how paying these buyouts has “hurt the team”?
Will we not be able to afford a top flight head coach now?

Yea, feeling a little lube would have been helpful with the rear assult.

Boosters ponied up for 17 million for a coach to not coach.
We can get a top flight coach. What if he doesn't work out? Another 17 million dollar buyout?
Can't do it unlimited times. That's why the money affects the team and the program. Don't care if it's not my money. It's just like saying "Myles Brennan's injury wasn't your arm so why do you care"
This program does not have aTm money and if the boosters run out of money they're willing to pay we are fricked. What is so hard to understand about that?

the school isn't paying any of this.

LSU athletics use zero tax dollars and obviously no endowment money. it's all taf.

Prominent businessmen with strong interests and financial ties with LSU have been saying for weeks LSU would be able to finesse that $17 million buyout in Orgeron’s contract to something closer to $10 million because of Orgeron’s off-field issues.
quote:Miles collected his annual salary for several years before he took the Kansas job. He got nearly every cent of his contract.
That is even worse than former LSU athletic director Joe Alleva, who was able to fire Miles for $9 million and ended up paying only $4 million when Miles took the Kansas job.

I am trying earnestly to see your point.

Guilbeau is a worthless whining blowhard = water is wet.
No one else has managed to be fired from more media outlets and still somehow manage spill his drivel to a somewhat significant portion of the state.

Guilbeau article on the high price of O’s buyout.
Guilbeau is a moron. He even justifies the $ in his own article. LSU has enough problems that it cannot afford to alienate anyone in Orgeron's position level as they go into very expensive litigation cases. They do not want CEO sitting on the other side of the table in these cases or being deposed or cross examined without their counsel.
That is why I have been saying all season that CEO is not getting flack from LSU on Title IX issues because they all need to be in concert in their positions on these cases. And LSU has already told the Feds that CEO was clean, testified honestly, "and was credible."

Not flaming just offering clarity.
The coaches yearly salary pool(head and assistant coaches) is a total amount that is carved up based on their contracts. This pooled amount is budgeted, earmarked and paid via TAF funds - yearly.
Head coach and assistant buyout amounts are paid for by boosters who agree to pay extra for this amount. Not in a lump sum, but on agreed to pay schedule(I.e. Orgeron’s new contract.
Not every booster, certain boosters who most of us don’t know who they are. Therefore we have no clue how much they are worth or have in liquid capital. To get an idea look up Jim Flores(MBA business school named for him) and Hank Anderson Shreveport.
