LSU couldn't fill half of TS for an SEC game with much cheaper tickets than these will be. Late start time + lack of hotels hurts.

That was an away game weekend where people had other plans. But not many coming who live in the Houston area. If the terrace tickets are cheap could get a good crowd

The lack of attendance at the LSU/South Carolina game really shocked me. Yes, it was only three days notice, but the tickets were relatively cheap and it was a beautiful early fall day against a SEC opponent

I was shocked as well, but I think the schedule had a lot to do with the low attendance.
That game was the only weekend for 6 or 7 straight weeks without a home game. A lot of people used the away game to make other plans for that weekend. Most either couldn't or chose not to cancel those plans to attend a last minute home game.

This game isn't that much different. It was previously an 'away' game in Houston. IF you weren't originally attending, I would think a majority of people already had other plans on a holiday weekend. + the rain + the late kickoff + the lack of cheap hotel rooms + relatively pricey tickets & $40 parking .... Being the season opener adds some extra motivation for people, but I don't think the matchup is good enough to expect more than 35,000 people.

No way I'm paying top dollar for tickets There will be plenty of empty seats.

Hotel rooms are plentiful. Pumps are back at over 90% availability.
Neither of those excuses work

Is there a scenario where tickets would be cheaper than face value?

It's quite possible the dome can't get to full staff and they may be forced to limit attendance.

That's not an issue, the Dome will be fully staffed on Thursday for the Saints game, and the same crew will be working on Saturday.
