I’m at a smaller hospital but its staffed by a well known university’s neurosurgeons and its residents, and they will do a craniotomy on anyone with a heartbeat, and often (recklessly & inappropriately imo) mislead or are disingenuous w/ families re: the risks/benefits/expected quality of life

I can believe it, some are "cut first" and it's not the best practice.

And those same people want socialized medicine where you are placed on a waiting list for 6months for a 5min Head CT to r/o glioblastoma.

They are basically arguing LSU should have sent him for a deeper evaluation sooner and, if so, the tumor would have been diagnosed earlier, which may have allowed him to choose a different doctor/treatment path

Same question. Does a couple of weeks change the urgency of the surgery?

All of this sucks. The whole situation is terrible.,

My guess is his football days are over and his handlers are trying to get a payday by other means.,

Brain tumors aren’t caused by football. And if he wasnt stressing his body playing football, does this even get discovered before it’s too late?

Too many people cannot understand the difference between an unfortunate situation and a situation where someone is to blame.

It’s obvious that nobody knew he had a brain tumor.

There’s no harm done to Brooks if someone gave him an expectation of recovery that turned out being wrong when there was no alternative to surgery.

So, unless the surgeon botched it, it’s just a possible outcome of a very tough surgery that was the only option to saving his life.

In medicine today, doctors try their best to get you in and out the door. You can have something serious but they would rather it not be their problem for that day. I can see with almost certainity, that everything was down played until it was too late. You dont run the extra test because its just easier.

so many people dont understand the difference between and unforunate situation, and one where someone did everything he could to not diagnose something serious. This scenario happened to my mom literally last week.

This is a payday for a person who was dealt a bad hand, he and his family are looking for security.

If he has a case in regards to a botched surgery, then I hope he gets what is owed.

The Kelly stuff and the NIL stuff in honoring Brooks is petty and ridiculous- it devalues the entire suit and makes me question the rest of it, right or wrong.

I feel like its more like car maintenance. You start with whats most common/most likely to be the issue and whittle down the likely reasons from there.

It doesn't make sense to test for tumor if its all the symptoms of vertigo. try to treat vertigo and if it doesn't work, you know to move on. Something like 40% of adults have vertigo at some point in their lives. Brain tumor is like 0.03%

This isn't defending LSU or criticizing GBJ, just saying medicine today isn't just evil corporations.

What will come next are the legal motions to have the case thrown out as premature.
An Exception has already been filed on behalf of both LSU and OLOL.

I think all of the allegations against LSU could be to try to keep the suit in state court and hope the bad press for drives a settlement.
This and avoiding the med mal cap.

This was going to happen regarding Jimmy Lindsey as well. Unfortunately, it’s the world we live in now. If life deals a bad blow,…..someone is at fault and is going to pay. Kelly saved the day by firing everyone.

Some in this thread have determined that BK violated the standard of care expected of a football head coach in his failure to properly diagnose, conduct proper tests and promptly surgically remove a cancerous brain tumor in order toe save the quality of life of the patient. Even a rookie GA would have seen this coming.
Likewise, we are reminded that BK failed to exercise the proper standard of care expected of a HC/ meteorologist in failing to accurately predict the time and exact location where conditions would coalesce to create a microburst /windstorm that could reasonably expected to cause death or great bodily harm to a man operating a lift at football practice. And PE teacher could have seen that one coming....
Serial murder, pure and simple.

No it’s not, at all. Vertigo is fairly common and usually a result of an inner ear issue. You don’t get vertigo and immediately go to a brain scan.

To be frank, if he were not a football player who had access to the medical teams that he did, it may not have been diagnosed at all.

There are actually very few occupations where someone other than a licensed physician can legally diagnose a condition/injury.

These people are usually accompanied with the legal ability to prescribe medication/treatment.

I don’t recall ever in my 60 years so much as a whisper of a coach or trainer who WAS qualified.

Can’t blame the player for trying for some relief of probably HUGE financial issues. Just saying that it ain’t gonna fly.

I can. Suing innocent people who tried to help you/save your life is wrong. Have always been disgusted by money grab malpractice lawsuits.

Imagine how much worse his situation would have been if he were not a football player.
