Greg Brooks Recovery 10/3

TLDR: Does anyone know of organized fund raising going on for Greg and his family? Preferably associated with the family or a church organization they are affiliated with. (Want to make sure it’s going to the family not someone grifting)

Kelly dropping a nugget yesterday that Greg “responded to commands” and “gave a thumbs up” and last week saying he “stood up”.
3 weeks post op and he’s barely responsive with severely inhibited motor function, I’m not trying to be a pessimist but reality is reality.
That tumor had to have been on the area of the brain that controls motor function, which is likely why he had symptoms of vertigo. There is a high risk of permanent loss of motor function from operating on that area of the brain, and the only time a Dr. will do it is if non action would be terminal.
CBK isn’t going to say it publicly, football is out of the question. This is a matter of whether he will be able to live a semi-normal life or need assistance the rest of his life.
I had a family member go through a nearly identical situation in his late 30’s and the rapid decline after surgery is rough to watch. There is a long road ahead and drastic life adjustments that need to made just to live as normal as possible.
Greg’s situation hits on a personal level and I know first hand the help he and his family will need.

Not the update I wanted. I ignorantly thought he would be back with us next year. Nothing but positive vibes to you young man #3

Yea a tumor on the brain is going to knock anyone down for a long time. I’d imagine football will never again be an option for the man. Terrible news and hopefully God has time for a miracle for him.

Did you really think that was a clever post at the time you posted it?
Did you even read the OP's post? This is a serious situation for Greg Brooks and his family.

Wasn’t this post about raising funds? He’s already on the Gordon payroll. I wasn’t talking about a lawsuit.
Btw for those religious folks, I believe that Satan is responsible for all sickness & suffering.

I don’t know his prognosis and God still work’s miracles, but I have first hand experience with the same thing in my family.
Family member had 4 brain surgeries at MD Anderson over 5 years, after each one they lost verbal and motor function to the point another operation wasn’t an option.
Greg’s tumor was benign so he shouldn’t have that problem with having to get it taken out again, but if he is barely giving a thumbs up 3 weeks out after surgery 1, pretty evident the circumstances he is dealing with.

I doubt he ever gets to play football again I just hope he can recover enough to have a somewhat normal life

He's worse off than I had pictured. Not knowing details, I had imagined he'd have a recovery period but thought removing the tumor would get him back to normal.

My worst fear in life is getting a brain tumor. Can’t imagine

God Damn it. I hate this.

I hate to say it but not necessarily. While it is less likely it is still a possibility, my father-n-law had a tumor removed that was between his spine and heart a year and ten months ago that was the size of a plum and just had the same tumor the same size removed last week.

Childhood friend of mine had a brain tumor when he was 16 and it was cancer. It was the actual removal of the tumor that did all the damage to his motor skills. He has been cancer free for over 40 years but has never been the same. He functions in life but he is far from what he use to be like.
I knew it wasn't good when we really wasn't getting what I call positive news on Greg. I pray he can have a full and healthy and productive life at this point!

Correct, even benign tumors can grow back.

I just want Greg Brooks to be healthy and to be able to live a normal life.

Greg’s tumor was benign
I wasn't aware that had been officially stated
That alone is great news, regardless of his recovery time and function prognosis moving forward

Man this situation really reminds me how fast life can change. Greg Brooks was flying around the field easily the best DB we had and less than a week later he finds out he has a brain tumor can't even begin to imagine what he is dealing with.
