This is what bothers me so much about midweek games. If our pitchers are hurt, and have few options, I get that. What does it say about our hitting, though. When you play like only important games matter, you will never be consistent when it really does matter.

Not to mention Zach Watson getting abducted by aliens and being replaced with Wack Watson right before the series started.

Yes, I am. We all should be.

This coaching staff is borderline retarded.

The timeliness of the mistakes was what hurt LSU in the FSU series. Timely hitting could have made those mistakes nearly meaningless.

When the players are making timely mistakes and struggling to recover from them, you have to take a look in the dugout. I understand that the coaches aren't pitching, hitting, fielding, and running bases but they need to have the players ready, focused, and able to recover.

In no way am I saying Paul or any coaches need to be run out of town, but the blame is absolutely shared between the players and coaches. They played hard, just not smart at times. The coaching staff also had their goofs.

I really hope we side step the injury bug next year. Another year of it will indicate a trend that needs some serious consideration.

You don't need 5 national championships to know that.

No, you don’t. Baseball games are won with pitching, solid fundamentals and a team’s ability to drive in runs when runners are in scoring position. This program, meaning multiple LSU teams/seasons has been too inconsistent with one or more under manieri and in some years, like the last two, in all areas.

Think about this. We started the season not being able to throw strikes and what happens in game 1 of this super regional? Double digit walks. Same thing with the hitting and the base running. Didn’t we lose a national championship two years ago in part because of a base running blunder? Fundamentals.

The injuries are also a problem. Either we’re doing a poor job evaluating guys with pre-existing conditions or we’re doing a poor job of training and conditioning, or both. And of all the top position recruits in that #1 class, none could supplant Hughes, Broussard or even Reid, a guy that wasn’t even on the roster to begin the season? You throw in no depth at catcher, resulting in a steal fest for much of the season and a lack of left handed pitching and you get what we got. Inconsistent, fundamentally poor baseball.

Somehow we were able to host and win a regional through all that, which would make you think Manieri excelled. But then somehow we got swept in a home super regional by a team that barely made the tournament. Fail.

Fontenot did a great job under pressure Sunday

Yeah, Fontenot did a great job over, and over, and over, and over again delivering that timely pitch.

This type of analysis "timely hit", "timely pitch" is ridiculously shallow. LSU didn't really hit the lefty well, especially before 2 outs. And, FSU had enough chances that they finally came through against Fontenot.

But, LSU's real problem was that it was basically out of pitching...and it performed poorly against LHP.

Hughes being in the lineup cost us at least 2 runs in game 1.

Fontenot threw the same pitch to Mendoza 4 times. We all know what happened on pitch 5.

That fact that Fontenot had to face Mendoza falls squarely at the feet of Mainieri.

Cabrera really hurt this team down the final stretch of the season. Plus Hughes should not be in an LSU uniform.

I realize it’s Skip but there is nothing profound or particularly revealing in that quote. Duh!
What hurt LSU was settling for a FG instead a TD.

That’s not a great quote, that’s a polite way of saying you lost when you should have won

All of this would seem to indicate that LSU was the inferior team. Not FSU. PM blows, that's the fact of the matter.

Maybe it would help to focus on hitting on a regular basis throughout the season with a specialist. You know, coaching.

So are you saying other teams don't have center infieldsers and speedy centerfielders.

The rant gets going with a misnomer they just repeat it with zero thought.

I dont see it. We held thmm to 5 runs in 11 innings and had Walker, Hilliard, Hess heading into game 3.
